Job Title: Business Liaison (2 Positions)

Position Summary: Identify potential business partners for the JobLink Service Center, developing business and marketing solutions, recruit and screen business partners for potential employment opportunities for JobLink customers.

Essential Functions and Tasks:  Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of all program guidelines, including federal and state requirements related to the delivery of state and federally funded employment and training programs.  Identify potential network of business partners for Michigan Works! JobLink Service Center, (i.e. Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, community agencies).  Promote JobLink services and represent the agency at business and community events.  Recruit and screen customers for potential employment opportunities.  Support special initiatives that assist customers in receiving training for self-sustainability.  Ability to educate economic development, work force development and educational professionals on the importance of working together to strength creating and retaining employment opportunities  Assist employers with the development of job descriptions or orders identifying appropriate candidates, running job fairs, assisting with direct hires, etc.  Produce program reports based on various databases, logs and files.  Recommend MIS system changes as appropriate to ensure compliance with all state and federal program guidelines.  Participate in planning, decision making and problem solving with department members and stakeholders  Assist in defining projects objectives, timelines and development of tracking systems.  Promote and support the organization’s culture by ensuring excellent customer service; reinforcing Oakland Schools goals, policies and procedures, and the organizations vision and mission; ensuring diversity in the organizations customer base, workforce, and products and services.

Job Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree.  Four or more years of related experience.  Knowledge of local labor market & public/private sector employment practices.  Affiliate and participate with the Business Service Professionals organization. Business Solutions Professional (BSP) Certification preferred.  Ability to properly operate required office equipment such as a personal computer, fax machine, copier and the like.

Employment Terms: Twelve month work year. Salary based on the Progression Increment Salary System, Market Range 4 for an hourly range of $21.756 to $24.878. This position is funded through state and federal Workforce Development programs and continuation is contingent upon continued funding.
