Question: The Heartland, Rimland, and Domino theories have all played important roles in world history. a. Discuss each one of the above theories. b. Explain how the Rimland and Domino theories relate to each other and the following: The Cold War, NATO, SEATO and Supranational organizations.

1 point: Definition of Rimland theory: Rimland Control of the area AROUND Russia/China area control world 1 point: Definition of Heartland theory Control of the Russia/China area control world 1 point: Definition of Domino theory If one country bordering Russia/China falls to Communism, the neighboring countries will fall to communism like dominos. 2 points: Relationship Rimland and Domino Theory Domino theory was an offshoot of the Rimland theory. If you do not control the area around Russia/China, they will fall to communism. 2 points: Relationship of Cold War to theories Cold war was a non shooting war between Russia/China and USA and it’s allies as other than the Korean Conflict, there was no direct shooting between the parties. The Domino theory was the reason the USA entered into alliances with other countries that bordered Russia/China or their satellite states. 2: pointsRelationship of NATO/SEAT to theories NATO is an alliance of the USA and Western Europe that pledges support of all countries if one is attacked by Russia/China or anyone else. NATO countries control the “RIM” of Western Russia.
