"FEAR" BY V. 'BIC' MOORE

PAGE ONE:

All panels will be in thick black 'flashback' mode.

INT. GOTHAM MALL MEGAPLEX

A lightly filled movie theater has people screaming in their seats, reacting to what is on the screen (off- screen). A YOUNG COUPLE is clutching each other in the foreground, while other patrons are in various states of shock. The sole exception is a man all in shadow (THE SCARECROW) in the back row, we can only see his silhouette and eyes.

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) Fear...

INT. GOTHAM MALL

The YOUNG COUPLE, discussing the movie while laughing, walk past a movie poster display, showing two faces staring at the viewer. One face is a mime with pins sticking out from his head at evenly spaced intervals (think Pinhead from Hellraiser). The other is a woman with a Victorian hairstyle with strange markings on her forehead and cheeks. Above everything is the windowed ceiling of the mall. Other patrons maybe seen leaving the theater including our man in shadow which now only covers the top two thirds of him. (Note: Gotham Mall was seen in the episode Girl's night out.)

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) Society has forgotten what it truly means. Instead, they trivialize and capitalize on it with their mindless entertainment 'disguised' as horror.

CU. OF THE SCARECROW'S HAND.

THE SCARECROW activates a trigger on a hand held detonator. THE SCARECROW (O.S.) Fools, all of them.

INT. GOTHAM MALL - CEILING

Gas starts coming out of the sprinkler systems in the ceiling.

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) It's a base instinct. Just as strong as hatred, love, desire, and lust.

The YOUNG COUPLE and others start coughing and gasping.

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) People forget their fears, the horrors that the mind can bring them.

The MALE of the YOUNG COUPLE has his hands up with centipedes crawling over them. The background is distorted and uneasy. This is how he sees things as the gas affects him.

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) They are unconsciously afraid of the truth that Locke spoke of. 'Fear is an uneasiness of the mind, upon the thought of future evil likely to befall us.'

PAGE TWO:

Still continuing with the flashback mode.

The MALE reaches out desperately for the FEMALE.

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) So the fools cling to the nemesis of their fears…

hope.

That a better day, a brighter day will come and wash the horrors away. The FEMALE turns into a much more evil looking version of the woman in the movie poster.

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) But what if that hope was taken away, like air from a strangled person?

The YOUNG COUPLE are on their knees, eyes in shock, and drool leaking from their mouths (the FEMALE is back to normal looking). THE SCARECROW puts a hand on each of their heads (we only see his lower half). Others in the background are in a similar state, some might be balled up on the ground, etc.

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) Froude stated that 'Fear is the parent of cruelty'...

Closing in on the FEMALE's still in shock. THE SCARECROW's fingers holds her chin. The edge of the panel are slightly jagged and closing in on the FEMALE.

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) Is it cruel to strangle them of their hopes and dreams and watch the light fade from their eyes?

Close up on the FEMALE's face. Tears are now flowing as well and the eyes are slightly wider. (Should we add snot?) THE SCARECROW's thumb smears some of the tears. The edge of the panel are more jagged.

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) To allow them to feel the prickly legs of fear upon one's neck?

Extreme Close up of the FEMALE's eye, which is a lot wider than normal. We can see the reflection of THE SCARECROW's pointed finger. The edge of the panels are extremely jagged and rushing in stab the eye out.

THE SCARECROW (O.S.) To uncontrollably wetting themselves when faced with such horrors? PAGE THREE:

Two panels. Second one is a 2/3 page splash. No flashbacks this page.

EXT. ARKHAM ASYLUM

The blood-stained skies are stabbed by the soulless towers of Arkham Asylum poking at the moon behind it. Some thin trees can be seen here and there, and the gate to Arkham is open, beckoning us in.

INT. ARKHAM ASYLUM - THE SCARECROW'S CELL

THE SCARECROW is facing us from behind the glass of his cell, and we can finally see all of him. Even though he is in prison he still looks triumphant. BATMAN's shadow can be seen on the floor (and maybe his reflection in the glass?).

THE SCARECROW I will unleash their terrors, so that they can live a life bathed in fear.

The experiments are over, Batman, along with Crane. Now, there is only fear and it's master is…

…The Scarecrow
