Mrs. O’Hara’s, Mrs. Crandell’s and Ms. Glidden’s Kindergarten Newsletter for November 2016

Dear Parents, The month of November has been very busy with lots of learning and special events. Concepts we are learning: In Guided Reading, Ms. Glidden worked with small groups on reading skills focused directly to their needs. These small groups are flexible and are able to change as each student grows as a reader. We will continue reading a poem each week as a part of Shared Reading. Don’t forget to look for your copy of our weekly poem in the green folder on Mondays. Please listen to your child read the poem and point to the words each night. We will not send home a new poem during the short week before Thanksgiving. In Math, we studied more and fewer, coins, three element patterns, proper formation of numbers to 15, and counting orally to 100 by ones. In Art, we made a beautiful turkey art project that you may want to keep! We also made scarecrow masks and beautiful stained glass leaves. American Education Week If you were able to make it to our American Education Week festivities, we hope you enjoyed your time with us! We had fun reciting poems, performing festive dances and making a Thanksgiving book.

Book Buddies Our Book Buddies will begin after Thanksgiving break. We will be meeting weekly with Ms. Kardos’ class. Green Folders Thank you for checking your child’s green folder each evening and returning them the next school day. It greatly helps us so that we can keep you informed and you can let us know about any changes in transportation. Thank You Thank you for sending your child to school each day with appropriate outdoor clothing. They have enjoyed playing outdoors for recess on clear days. Thank you for all the supplies (chalk and post it notes) sent in to help us learn and have fun! To Our Wonderful Classroom Volunteers and Mystery Readers Our students are always thrilled to have Mystery Readers! We are so grateful to our classroom volunteers for all your help so far this year! Thank you! Sincerely, Mrs. O’Hara, Mrs. Crandell and Ms. Glidden
