Westmont High School Football Program Individual Players Marketing Plan

Mission: The Westmont High School Football program will develop an individual marketing plan for each student athlete within the goals, standards, and values of the college in order to matriculate the student to a 4 year institution of choice or interest.

Purpose: The knock on High School Football coaches is that their players are great athletes who can help a program WIN but the reward comes at too much of a high cost or baggage. The baggage of inconsistent academic performance and achievement, bad character, and weak minded individuals is the perception. The NCAA is making it tougher each year for high school students who want to play football and get a degree from a 4 year institution transfer and complete their education. We as educators must have a plan to develop the total individual which addresses the perception of community college athletes in the eyes of 4 year college’s admissions counselors, coaches, and administrator. The individual student/athlete must be informed of these pitfalls and then shown a plan in which to battle this perception. Our plan, the Warrior Plan, will make our student/athletes desirable to recruit because they are not only great athletes but better people who have the academic skills to finish their development at the next level. This plan will show the student/athlete:

1. How they fit into the programs offense, defense, and special teams. 2. How the program will make specialized highlight tapes exposing their skills to 4 year coaches. 3. How the athlete will become an activities participant in their marketing/recruiting process. 4. An academic plan and map showing the student how and when they will be able to transfer to a 4 year college. 5. A character development plan which gives them the tools to make responsible choices off the field. 6. The coaching staff will help them develop into the best possible student person and athlete that represent the standards and values of Westmont High School. Methods:

1. Teach the student/athlete how to make an Individual Recruiting Profile in order to send out to colleges of personal interests. (See Profile) 2. Teach the student/athlete to evaluate their own athletic skills from game film and make a weekly personal highlight film. Each sophomore player will be required to check off on their game evaluation sheet on those plays they feel represent their best athletic skills. 3. The student/athlete will review and sign off on all profiles and highlight tapes developed and sent out to 4 year colleges. 4. The coaching staff will attend the annual AFCA coaching convention in order to network, hand out, and arrange spring campus visits to Westmont High School by 4 year college coaches to meet the athletes. 5. The Football program will have an editing system that will allow for easy access and producing of infidel highlight tapes for the student/athlete. 6. The Head Football Coach will meet annually with and be an active participant with the college center at Westmont High School in order to stay current with 4 year transfer standards and regulation. 7. The coaching staff will attend/participate in at least 2 clinics a year that involves 4 year college football coaches as speakers to market Westmont High School Football Players.
