MEETING HELD 18 AUGUST 2016 AT MARYSVILLE PRACTICE

Present:

Chairman: Roy Hope PPG Members: Jay Mitchell; Derick Goring; Colin Attenborough; Viv Botfield In Attendance: Izzy Culliss (Practice Manager); Heather Willis (Comms Co-ordinator) Apologies: Neville Woods; Graham Spencer

This meeting centred round a project Marysville Practice would like the PPG to spearhead, the project being ‘creating patient awareness of how to stop ‘falling’ into this disease because of lack of knowledge’

1. DIABETES AWARENESS PROGRAMME

The idea of this programme is not to be a ‘one off’ event but of various and continual events and initiatives. The goal being to highlight that some causes of diabetes can be down to lifestyle and therefore preventable

The PPG can have, in the main, a free reign to come up with ideas, actions, and measures to help create awareness. Heather Willis (Marysville Communications Co-ordinator) will also be working on this project. Practice staff are also aware of this initiative and can be called upon for advice, etc.; if necessary

It was agreed this initiative would evolve with time but a starting point would be to brainstorm some initial ideas:

IC confirmed the message had been shortened but some information needed to remain

2. Health Talks

It was agreed health talks would remain on the agenda but should centre around the diabetes awareness programme currently

3. VJB Holiday

VJB advised due to holidays she would not be attending again until November

Diarised 2016 meetings:

All meetings to take place the third Thursday of the month from 2:00pm at the surgery
