<p> 0962cd28312a5ae71f59bca0bd852d68.docx MARYSVILLE MEDICAL PRACTICE PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP MINUTES </p><p>MEETING HELD 18 AUGUST 2016 AT MARYSVILLE PRACTICE</p><p>Present: </p><p>Chairman: Roy Hope PPG Members: Jay Mitchell; Derick Goring; Colin Attenborough; Viv Botfield In Attendance: Izzy Culliss (Practice Manager); Heather Willis (Comms Co-ordinator) Apologies: Neville Woods; Graham Spencer </p><p>This meeting centred round a project Marysville Practice would like the PPG to spearhead, the project being ‘creating patient awareness of how to stop ‘falling’ into this disease because of lack of knowledge’</p><p>1. DIABETES AWARENESS PROGRAMME </p><p>The idea of this programme is not to be a ‘one off’ event but of various and continual events and initiatives. The goal being to highlight that some causes of diabetes can be down to lifestyle and therefore preventable</p><p>The PPG can have, in the main, a free reign to come up with ideas, actions, and measures to help create awareness. Heather Willis (Marysville Communications Co-ordinator) will also be working on this project. Practice staff are also aware of this initiative and can be called upon for advice, etc.; if necessary </p><p>It was agreed this initiative would evolve with time but a starting point would be to brainstorm some initial ideas:</p><p>Sign Posting Meaningful Messages Postings on Website Belle Vue Magazine Blog Twitter Messages Text Messaging Email Messaging JX Board Messaging Information handouts / Leaflets Posters in Surgery Local Press for events advertising GP editorial Physical stand display WFH link from website Exercise regimes / groups Nutritional talks / General Health Nutritonal recipes /Recipe cards Window box gardening / what / to talks grow Discussion Groups Top tips Videos’ / You Tube Open Forums Coffee Mornings Use of Karen Higgins Use of Young Health Champions Use of Salop & Shrews PPG meetings Use Roy’s experience Derick Looking Back editorial Famous personalities Use Councillors news letters Use of other associations/ groups</p><p>Discussions how to proceed, plan and produce are to take place at the next and future meetings </p><p>Page 1 of 3 0962cd28312a5ae71f59bca0bd852d68.docx</p><p>1. Health Talks </p><p>It was agreed health talks would remain on the agenda but should centre around the diabetes awareness programme currently </p><p>3.
