Education Day Friday, March 30th 10am -2-pm

What: The Education Day is a “pre-event” for students and educators along the Gulf Coast. During this time Vietnam Veterans will hold 15 minute scripted presentations followed by Question and Answer sessions for the students. Presentations will be repeated throughout the day. Vietnam Veterans will also be available near military equipment and memorabilia displays to answer questions. Where: Battleship Memorial Park http://www.ussalabama.com/ Why: This event has several focuses.  To honor the Vietnam Veterans who live on the Gulf Coast.  Give younger generations the chance to meet the Vietnam Veterans, ask questions and learn about the Vietnam War.  Allow students to view special exhibits being added inside the aircraft hangar.  Promote healing connections between Veterans and the community. Who: The Gulf Coast Vietnam Veterans Salute Education Day is for all Middle and High School Students. College & University Students are also welcome to attend. Battleship Reservations for School Groups: Contact Karen Conner, USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park, [email protected] 251.433.2703, Honor Ride Parade Information: Faculty & students are invited to bring their families & friends to cheer for the Vietnam Veterans in the Honor Ride Parade on Saturday March 31st, 2012 at 10am. Parade Route is on Government Street between Virginia St. & the Bankhead Tunnell. Over 700 Vietnam Veteran motorcyclists from across the Gulf Coast will escort a caravan of Honor Bus Vehicles to Battleship Park for a special celebration.
