3 excellent coaching workshops held in the County this year with another one hopefully running in September 2017.

Safeguarding: Vicky read through Kathie’s report which explained that there is a lot of work taking place to review the governance in grassroot sport, which will update the policies and procedures. If you have a junior section of your club it is imperative that you have a safeguarding officer at the club. Safeguarding officer must either attend a UKSport Safeguarding course of have attending training through their work in order to hold the role at your club. Coaches at clubs must have a DBS for juniors, you can obtain this through Vicky for £11.40. Vicky requested that if any club feels that they need specific training then to inform Kathie Keady as she can organize it. There will be a new reporting system designed as part of the governance review and a new code of conduct system to be put in place. Joan reinforced the importance of safeguarding within the club.

Make the Game Live Tour – attended by NL (March 2016). Coaching Session delivered by TeAroha Keenan (Team North Head Coach) attended by NL (Jan 2016)

Umpiring Report – previously circulated

Building on the success of last year we’ve had another two umpires pass their C award test. Ian Story and Rebecca Croft from Bedlington completed their test in a March this year and are currently umpiring division 3 /2 games in our Summer league. Iain Richardson and Vicky Atkinson are working toward their B award and have recently attended a B award course through Tyne and Wear. Iris is currently mentoring other people from Bedlington club.

There is to be a C award course on 8th October in Ashington and we would like as many people from Northumberland clubs to attend as possible before we open it to Tyne And Wear clubs. We need to push this as much as possible if we want to see some new umpires in our County.

Lolla Daniels (Regional Chair) would like us to arrange an umpiring workshop in Possibly September time for umpires AND players so people can ask about umpiring, learn about umpiring and anything else that might come up on the day. It will be mostly practical and it will hopefully be very positive and helpful to all umpires and players.

initiative and possibly cut the quarters down by a minute if running late. Julie stated that times should be timing to their watch and not waiting for players to get back onto court, this will make starts more prompt. Jolene request that all score sheets are completed properly and scorers should stand together to reduce conflicting scores, also not to get in the umpires way when they haven’t finished umpiring the current game Sue Hall queried the time it takes Blythe to set up the netback court. Jolene suggested timing to see how long it takes them to set up in case there are problems in the future.  Court costs; Jolene will send these out ASAP once she knows number of teams per league and how many matches will need to be played.  Indoor league can begin as early as the 3rd week on September, again Jolene will send out dates as soon as possible, but has requested that clubs inform her of how many teams they wish to enter before the 31st July.  3 divisions again this Winter league; Jolene will consider club positions in the league if they haven’t played in Spring/Summers.  Juniors must affiliate from September 2017. Vicky added that juniors must follow the same procedures as adults.  Clubs must pay full fees to Jolene by their 1st ,match or they cannot take court.

Sarah Croft won Unsung Hero at our Goalden Globes and we can now vote for her on the England Netball Website, please note that you cannot vote on mobile phones. Action; Vicky to put link onto NCNA Facebook page. Joan encouraged more clubs to nominate people for both Goalden Globes and for NCNA wards. Query: from Blythe Valley Vixons to Vicky; will their training now clash with Netball Now. Query: from Bernie Bell to Jolene. Scoring system for junior leagues allows 4 points for a draw and 5 for a win, which doesn’t allow much reward for winning. Her team won 8/9 games but lost the league due to another team drawing more games. Action: NCNA committee to evaluate current scoring system at their next meeting. Query: Justine to Committee. Clubs not getting fined for late fee payment. Agreed at last AGM but nothing has been implemented. Vicky suggested that sanctions were proposed/seconded now ready for the rule review. Clubs voted in favour of docking points from clubs who do not attend the AGM; passed with a majority vote. Clubs voted in favour of having a fixed fee for league then an inflated fee after a proposed payment date; passed with a majority vote. Action: Committee to review rules/procedures and fines at the rule review. Justine to chase up payments at County fixtures. Query: number of representatives needing to be present at AGM, constitution states 1 minimum but email from Secretary stated 2. Action: this is to be clarified and distributed to clubs at next NCNA meeting.
