The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services is soliciting applicants for statewide vacancies in the following classifications. This is a recruitment effort to provide a broader applicant pool for vacancies that may occur in the future. Social Service Worker I

This position provides entry level professional social work services to families and children through the assessment of client needs and the provision of social services. Applicants must be a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related field.

Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check.

If appointed to the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, an employee in this classification must furnish to the appointing authority within one month of appointment documentation that he/she possesses a valid driver’s license and must maintain a valid driver’s license for the length of employment in this classification.

Starting salary: $2,670.20 per month.

Family Support Specialist I

This position performs beginning level determination of eligibility for public assistance programs such as Food Stamps and Medicaid. Applicants must have completed 54 semester hours from a college or university OR have completed 28 semester hours from a college or university and have one year of experience in administrative work, clerical office work and/or work dealing directly with the public. Previous experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for and/or administering Food Stamps, the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program, Medical Assistance, Child Support or other public assistance programs will substitute for the college requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Starting salary: $2,006.08 per month
