JOB DESCRIPTION Program and Development Assistant

General Purpose The Program and Development Assistant directly supports both the VP Clinical Services (“the VP”) and the Development Department in the smooth and efficient oversight of Meta House’s programs and in engaging clients, volunteers, and in-kind donors.

Essential Functions of the Job  Work directly with the VP on all program licensing requirements.  Attend community meetings, as requested, to report back relevant information.  Assist VP with meetings as requested including scheduling, setting up, attending to take notes.  Provide primary back up to reception desk, providing coverage for lunch, breaks, vacations and unscheduled days off.  Assist VP with scheduling, meeting set up, and ensuring coverage for all staff and client events.  Work with Counselor Techs to plan and coordinate staff and client events  Work with staff to determine one-time or ongoing volunteer needs, then match and/or recruit volunteers to meet those needs.  Work with the Partnerships & Communications Manager to share volunteer and donation needs on social media (Facebook and Twitter).  Maintain a wish list of needs and secure and distribute needed in-kind donations.  Coordinate volunteers and meal donations for outpatient lunches.  Assist with development department events as needed.  Play an ongoing role in Celebrating Families!, a Monday-evening program. Secure volunteers and regularly order/coordinate food delivery and be available on Monday evenings or secure staff coverage during this program as it is repeated throughout the year.

Marginal Functions of the Job  Possible participation in United Way Speakers’ Bureau as requested by the development department  Database support  Occasional night and weekend availability will be required  Other duties as may be periodically or permanently assigned

Qualifications and Requirements  Bachelor’s degree in Human Service related field preferred  Three to five years working in Social Services and experience working with a team

Other Skills Required  Ability to work effectively with people  Ability to demonstrate a mature approach to problem solving  Organizational and planning skills  Computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, and other applications  Experience working with women with alcohol and drug/mental health diagnoses  Knowledge of trauma informed services  Excellent written communication skills, ability to work independently and within the confines of deadlines

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements  Able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time  Able to climb stairs  Able to hear, understand and talk clearly to people over the phone and in person  Able to read material such as mail and the computer screen  Able to tolerate and work with a moderate amount of noise  Able to lift 15 to 25 pounds  Able to travel within the community must have a valid driver’s license and insurance, may include going to out of state grant meetings  Non–smoking environment
