Overview Overarching Theme: Identity

English Language Arts is a required one-credit course that will focus on reading and  How does facing challenges shape literature, writing and language usage, oral communication, and critical thinking. Assessments will include, but not be limited to the following: Learner Expectations Reading and Literature Students are expected  Reader responses such as annotations  to be prepared with charged laptop,  Unit quizzes, tests, exams assignments, reading and writing materials;  Projects  to be respectful in engaging and/or  Class participation/discussions interacting with teacher and peers;

 Vocabulary  to be ready to produce original quality work in a multitude of Writing ways;

 Research  to practice legal and ethical behavior.  Essays  to understand that they will take  Reflections ownership over their actions if they do not fulfill their obligations,  Intellectual Journals duties, and what’s expected as a  Projects student of English Language Arts 9;and  Creative writing pieces  to exhibit behaviors that reflect our Listening and Speaking Hawaiian values of aloha, ‘imi na’auao, malama, ‘ike pono,  Class participation and discussions kuleana, ho’omau, and ha’aha’a.
