1. The mission of Northwest Arkansas Classical Academy is to provide young people with a rigorous classical education in the liberal arts and sciences that cultivates intellectual excellence, wisdom, and virtue, and our Motto is Honor, Respect, Service, Excellence and Perseverance. As a PTO officer how will you promote and support the school's motto and mission? As an officer of the PTO I will respect the individual, service the customer, strive for excellence and perseverance. I will be a servant leader. 2. What do you see as the PTO's primary purpose? The PTO is a lifeline when it comes to ensuring students and teachers have the supplies required to implement the enrichment programs for a complete learning experience. Students and teachers are the primary focus. 3. What qualifications do you have that you feel will allow you to lead the PTO effectively? My professional background, analysis and process improvement will play a significant role in my efforts to assist in the development of the high school clubs. If there is something I do not have knowledge on I will learn it and share the knowledge with other in order to be successful in the PTO. I am always open to constructive feedback and will not hesitate to ask questions when needed. 4. What are some ideas you have that will encourage everyone to be a part of the PTO? I believe parents will get involved if their children are truly interested in what the school has to offer. I have a few things in mind. o First, send out a parent letter/survey to determine what areas the PTO needs to improve on and have them offer suggestions. . Example: We are striving to provide programs for our high school students. Student activities facilitate personal growth by providing opportunities to develop teamwork, goals, problem solving, and planning skills. (questions will be listed below &I hope to have a link set up) o Second, find out what types of hobbies/interest the parents have. o Third, determine how many faculty/staff member would like parent volunteer assistance. o Fourth, inform the parents that the student’s initiative to develop, plan, and organize anything for the school will benefit the students when applying for colleges as well as our future generation. Allowing the Graduating class of 2018 to leave a legacy. o Fifth, find out what type of clubs/sports the students are interested in and encourage the students to assist in the development of the club. . I feel that this approach will help the student obtain a sense of accomplishment and also help them develop servant leadership skills. . My hope it to engage parent participation with their child’s desire and enthusiasm to develop a club/organization, which will allow the student to list the accomplishment on the college application.
Complete Questionnaire and submit by April 21, 2015 Page 2 . I plan to provide a start up guide for the students and follow up with emails and ask for status updates (parents will be cc on the emails as well). The email will acknowledge the student as a responsible person to gather information for the club they desire.
