The Grand Lodge Session/Convention will be held in Reno, NV July 16-19, 2017.
The Grand Lodge Convention Committee has assigned the North Carolina delegation to the Grand Sierra Resort, 2500 East Second Street, Reno, NV 89595. The Grand Sierra Resort is the headquarters hotel for this convention. The delegations from the Kentucky, Maryland/Delaware/DC, New England, New Jersey, Pennsylvania/West Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia State Elks Associations as well as the Grand Lodge delegation will also be in the hotel.
Room rate will be $125.17 (taxes included). Room rate is good for three (3) days before and after the convention IF asked for on the reservation request. Late checkout must be requested with the reservation, and Cancellations must be made 72+ hours before reserved time to receive a refund. Rooms are on the Summit and GSR levels of the hotel and have 2 Queen beds, but only Summit level rooms have a small refrigerator and microwave. Rooms with a King size bed are available and may be requested on the reservation form but are not guaranteed. Triple and quad occupancy of a room will add another $20 per person per night to the room rate. Complimentary airport shuttle service is available. It leaves from the hotel front entrance every 15 minutes from 5:00AM to 12:00AM and every 15 minutes from the exit located at the far end of baggage claim at the airport from 5:15 AM to 12:15 AM. There is no handicap capability on the shuttle; however, taxis are available that are handicap accessible: Whittlesea Taxi (775-322-2222); Yellow Cab (775-355-5555); E\Reno-Sparks Cab Co (775-333- 3333). There are several restaurants in the hotel and a Walmart across the street.
District Deputies must submit a reservation form, but their room will be paid for by Grand Lodge and no deposit is required.
In order to receive complimentary space for our Hospitality Room – all reservations must be made through the Housing Chairman and are due no later than June 1, 2017.
1. Sunday afternoon Opening Ceremony, Daily Business and Closing Sessions will take place in Hall 4, Reno-Sparks Convention Center, 4590 S. Virginia St, Reno, NV 89502.
2. The Opening Ceremony will be on Sunday July 16th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
3. Registration & Exhibits will be in Hall 3 of the convention center. Pre-registration online is recommended, but credentials must still be picked up in Hall 3 of the convention center. 4. The Wednesday Business and Closing Session is scheduled to end at @ 11:00 AM.
5. Ritual competition will be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
6. The Exalted Rulers Ball will be held at the Grand Sierra Resort from 7 to 11 PM on Tuesday July 18th.
7. Shuttle service between the hotel and the convention center will be available. The shuttle scheduled should be posted on the Elks website by the end of May.
8. Handicap rooms are available at the Grand Sierra Resort. In order to improve assistance to handicapped members/guests at the convention and to comply with the ADA, I am asking those that also might need transportation and/or wheelchair assistance while attending the convention to let me know ASAP so that I can pass that information to the Grand Lodge. Please include that information on your reservation form.
The State President will make available the location and operating hours of the North Carolina State Elks Association Hospitality Suite plus where to send your donations.
