Russia Airport Sector Briefing

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and British Aviation Group (BAG) will be hosting an Industry briefing for the benefit of the UK airports industry which will set out some of the forthcoming airport related opportunities around the New Mexico City airport in Mexico. It is open to all UK companies who are invited to attend this free event and also book 1:1 meetings with the delegates. It will give everyone a feel for what is coming up, update us with the latest intelligence, update us on airport opportunities at the current and regional airports and the scale of what lies ahead.

The delegation will consist of senior officials from the following companies:

The Airport area will cover 555,000 square metres, which will make it one of the world’s largest and most sustainable airports. It will include photocells, natural lighting, air handling, rainwater harvesting and water conservation. The whole project will cost around £9.23m and will eventually have 6 runways and should begin operating 2020 onwards. This new hub will replace Benito Juarez International Airport and will be built at the nearby area of Texcoco.

Over the past decade, Mexico’s investment in infrastructure grew from 3% to nearly 5% of its GDP. Mexico’s new National Infrastructure Programme (NIP) 2014-2018, includes a number of modernisation and expansion projects in airports, which are part of a £65 billion investment to develop transport infrastructure throughout the country. Bids for the new airport that have already been awarded are the following:

 Master planning and engineering  Project management  Design of the main building  Construction of access roads  Ground preparation  Construction of first runway

Although the project will eventually offer opportunities across many disciplines, initial opportunities for the project include:

 Engineering and structural designers  Financing scheme consultants  Security specialists  Tier-2/tier-3 equipment producers  Legal and Insurance providers  Retail Consultancy (Design & Retail Strategy)  ORAT  Operational Contracts (Ground Services etc.)
