Making an Effective Public Submission

River Red Gum Parks Draft Management Plan Submission guide

Parks Victoria wants to hear your thoughts and ideas on how best to manage our special River Red Gum Parks and Reserves. A draft management plan has been released for the parks and reserves along the Murray and we welcome your comments.

The River Red Gums Parks Draft Management Plan is a strategic guide for managing and protecting over 215 000 ha of parks and reserves along the Murray, Goulburn and Ovens Rivers between Wodonga and the South Australian border. The plan includes Gunbower, Warby–Ovens, Lower Goulburn, Hattah–Kulkyne National Parks, part of Murray–Sunset National Park, Leaghur State Park, Gadsen Bend, Kings Billabong, Nyah–Vinifera and Murray–Kulkyne Parks and the proposed Murray River Park, and 100 other parks and reserves.

Copies of the plan can be downloaded from Parks Victoria’s website www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/redgumplan or purchased for $10 from Parks Victoria offices at Bendigo, Echuca, Mildura, Robinvale, Shepparton, Swan Hill, Yarrawonga and Wangaratta and the Parks Victoria Information Centre by phoning 13 1963.

Parks Victoria invites written comments on the plan. Your submission can be as short or long as you wish. You can complete the submission form overleaf, complete an online submission at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/redgumparks, send a letter setting out your comments to the Manager, Park Management Planning, Parks Victoria, Level 10, 535 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000, or email to [email protected] by Monday 4 September 2017.

Make your submission effective  Please type or write clearly  Give your opinion on the information and strategies in the draft plan and explain the reasons for your opinions  Use the plan’s page numbers and headings as cross-references to your comments  If possible, put comments under headings corresponding to plan sections, noting the page and paragraph numbers.  Explain how your concerns could be addressed, or suggest alternative management strategies and improvements to information  List any references or data that support your comments.

What happens to your submission? We will acknowledge all submissions in writing and carefully consider all submissions when preparing the final Management Plan for approval.

Privacy Names of individuals and groups submitting comments will be published in the final plan unless you mark your submission as ‘CONFIDENTIAL’. After publication of the approved plan, copies of all submissions received will be made available for public inspection unless marked ‘CONFIDENTIAL’.
