Objectives

(i) Clarify the role of CAI-Asia local networks; (ii) Discuss mechanisms for improved coordination between CAI-Asia Secretariat, CAI-Asia pilot projects, and local networks in delivering AQM-related assistance at the city level in Asia; and (iii) Develop capacity building program for local network secretariats to manage their local network.

(Discussion on whether the CAI-Asia Local Network Strategy effectively addresses the expectations in Part IV and promotes the strengths and addresses the weaknesses of local networks in Part V. AQM strategies and policy initiatives by local networks. This will include a discussion on follow-up of BAQ 2004 “commitments” to be facilitated by Daniele Ponzi, Principal Environment Specialist, Asian Development Bank (Discussion on the status of implementation of air quality action plans and of BAQ 2004 “commitments” and on the challenges faced by the local networks in implementing them.) 15.00 pm – 16.30 pm VIII.
