General Program/Project comments:

Rite of Passage was lovely. Special thanks to Soror Terry Ann Smith and Faith. Soror Terry for making lovely certificates and putting together a slide presentation on College life. Soror Faith for carrying out the monthly topic exercise.

On November 17, 2013 at Mercer Community College Omega PSI PHI Fraternity, INC hosted an awesome College Fair. There were 35 Historical Black Colleges represented. The goal was for our GEMS to have the opportunity to do some Collegiate Networking. Two GEMS come away with information and resources that will provide a stronger foundation in College preparation. In addition to the HBCU representatives, two forums were given. One on Scholarships and Financial Aid and the other on Key Steps in Making the College Decision.

Program/Project recommendations or suggestions: Approve College Fair sooner, to ensure young ladies have time to respond and able to attend the College Fair.

Respectfully Submitted, Soror Lynn Lofton

Program Planning

Program Planning Webinar November 21, 2013  No national changes.  National is working on doing an assessment of the programs and a survey will go out to chapters once that is done. There will be no Impact Day this year

Program Evaluation Events are one and done. Programs are ongoing events under a program. All chapters need to evaluate all of their programs and what impact does it have on the community. o How do you know if a program is working? o Look at the success stories of the people who are being impacted by the program. If the program has no value or impact on the community then it should be cut it does not matter how long you have been doing the program because community needs changes and we have to change programs to match the needs. o We must run these programs like a business. Delta is a business and chapter members are the shareholders. o Each program should have long and short term goals. If you are doing Delta Academy Program you can measure the success of the program by the success of the students. If their grades in math or science go up a grade is that a direct result of the Academy Program or in direct. o We much determine what a successful program is. Success can be different to different people. Do surveys and once you have all the information collected you need to come to a conclusion about the program and what you plan to do going forward. o Each program should have a success story at the end of the program and we need to include that in the year end report. Qualitative programs are better and can be more impactful then event programs. o Have a debriefing at the end of all programs

Twitter Campaign  Nov. 30th and December 1st Delta will be acknowledging Worlds Aids Day by doing twitter feeds every hour. National is asking local chapters to do twitter feeds also. If you are unable to do every hour then do what you can. They acknowledge chapters who participated in last month twitter feed regarding breast cancer. Economic Development  Webinar on December 12th open to all Sorors regarding entrepreneurship. There will be a guest speaker on call Regional Foster Care and Adoption Initiative  West Chester Alumnae Chapter was on line and gave a presentation about their Foster Care and Adoption Initiative they do. They plan not only this initiative but all of their initiatives in April for the following year since that is the times where budgets are do for the upcoming year. They have all of their programs planned3 months before an event and they try to plan events based around National Day such as National Adoption day or World Aids Day ect. They plan around those days because local agencies will have events and be more willing to partner with you. Things they have planned: Ice Cream Social at a group home or youth shelter, scholarship for a child in foster care (2.5 GPA), giveaway at luncheon to a person who went thru foster care program or is adopted, gave away Wendy’s voucher at foster care events calling it Frosty for Foster Care all funds go into Dave Thomas Foundation for Foster Care and Adoption. In newsletter feature Soror who was adopted, in foster care or who has adopted children. Sign in sheets for follow up, have handouts with information. Physical and Mental Health (Health & Wellness Committee) Maryland Chapter did an Initiative on Alzheimer's awareness.
