Q: How long has this event taken place?

A: The Mid-South Great Steak Cook-off began in 2011 and has grown immensely each year. In the first year, there were 26 paid entrants and the 2016 event brought in 102 entrants.

Q: What does my competition entry fee get me?

A: - One (1) designated booth space (approximately 18’ x 20’) - Twenty (20) 14oz. bone-in ribeye steaks - Four (4) wristbands for the event - Exclusive early entry into next year’s event - A full day of entertainment

Q: Where can I purchase additional tickets?

A: Tickets will be available for purchase at the gates of the event (no advance purchases).

Q: After registration, then what?

A: By including your email on your registration form, you will be added to a communication chain leading up to the event. Also, in early October, your team packet will be mailed with all pertinent information about the event.

Q: Can I choose my team’s location?

A: You may provide requests to be placed beside certain teams or event landmarks and organizers will do everything in their power to accommodate. Q: Are coolers allowed? Chairs? A: Teams are allowed to bring coolers in only until the designated time in the team packet that is sent. No one is allowed to enter with any food or beverages once the event gates officially open at Noon on October 21st. Chairs are absolutely allowed, even encouraged.

Q: How do I sign up for the cornhole tournament?

A: Registration for the $1,500 Cornhole Tournament will begin at Noon on event day, October 21st, at the designated cornhole location.

Q: When can my team load-in/out?

A: Steak cook-off teams can load in at one of two times: 5pm – 8pm on Oct. 20th or 9am – 11am on Oct. 21st. (Must be loaded in by 11am, gates will close)

Steak cook-off teams can load out at one of two times: Immediately after the event on Oct. 21st or from 8am – 10am on Oct. 22nd. (Must be loaded out by 11am, gates will close)

Q: When does the event begin and end?

A: Gates open at Noon and the event will end after winners are announced at approximately 8:30pm.

Q: Can the public sample steaks from the teams?

A: Of course! Participating teams will be providing samples of their steaks (and other fun surprises) all through the competition (until around 5pm) and they will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite in our People’s Choice competition!

Q: Is water or electricity provided?

A: No, unfortunately we do not have the ability to offer these.

Q: Can I purchase ice on site?

A: Yes, we will offer the ability to purchase ice on site on the day of the event.

Q: Is this a kid-friendly event?

A: While kids are absolutely allowed to attend, this is definitely an event more aimed at adults, with grilling, chilling and entertainment going all day long. (There aren’t any “kid-friendly” events taking place, if that helps) Q: Are there any food options offered besides steak?

A: Yes! We will have a few of the most popular food trucks in the area on site, as well as plenty of beverages!
