Society for Human Resource Management Berks County Chapter #179 General Meeting Minutes July 14, 2015

The 2nd general meeting of the Berks County SHRM Chapter for the 2015-2016 program year was held on July 14, 2015 at the Berkshire Country Club. Krista Pauley, President, called the meeting to order at 7:35 AM.

Krista welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Financial Report: The beginning balance on June 1, 2015 was $12596.16 In June we had income of $1171.00 and expenses amounting to $1549.00. The ending balance as of June 30, 2015 was $12217.69

Krista updated the membership on the following items: Check the website, emails and the sheet on the table for upcoming events and job postings.

The following Guests were in attendance and introduced: Grace Bond: Guest of Whitney Rahman Stella Tobias & Sue Carter: Guest of Brentwood Industries Stephanie Weaver: Guest of Ramona Wolf Colleen Livinghouse: Guest of Bill Gage

Committee Updates: Membership & Hospitality (Bill Gage) Introduction of new members Angela Gough – Ammeraael Beltech Modular Kimberly Beachy – Seakeeper Alexia Pursley – Ametek Reading Alloys

Engagement (Bob O.) –Will hold a 15 minute orientation session immediately after the meeting.

BCTV (Bob O) – Tuesday July 14th Bob O and Andy will present.

Certification/Study Group (Bob O.) – 10 sessions starting in late September, testing in Dec/Jan.

Legislative (Whitney Rahman) - Whitney updated the membership on the following items:  Supreme Court Rules That ACA Allows Federal Tax Credits To Individuals Obtaining Benefits Through Federal Marketplace Exchange  Supreme Court Decides Gay Marriage Is A Fundamental Right  Department Of Labor Announces Proposed Regulations On Overtime Exemptions  NRLB Overturns Precedent To Require Employers To Turn Over Witness Statements To Unions  Third Circuit FMLA Decision Raises Questions Regarding Health Care Provider Certifications  Diversity (Steve Pradon) – Meeting in September

Krista reminded everyone of Networking at 7am prior to meeting and a December Holiday Networking Event

Andy Howe and Bob O presenting on HR Records and HIPAA Final Remarks:  Remember to complete the Evaluation Form on your table  Continue to check our website for new position postings.  SHRM and HRCI/PCP credits forms are on the registration table  Separation Issues session at PA Career Link July 15th approved for 1.5 hours and the session is free

Next Meeting – August 11, 2015 networking begins at 7am at the Berkshire Country Club. Speaker will be Sandra Catilao-Sanchez PA Career Link – Workforce Development Rep. The topic is U/C Separation Issues Approved for 1 hour HRCI and 1 SHRM – PCP.
