Position: TITLE I PARAPROFESSIONAL

Supervisor: Building Principal and Title I Supervisor

DEFINITION OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Building Principal and Title I Supervisor, serve as a paraprofessional assisting with math, reading, and reading readiness skills at the elementary level. A change in assignment and/or location may occur based on student specific needs and variances in school enrollment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Completed at least 2 years of study (72 quarter credits) or 48 semester credits at an institution of higher education OR obtained an associate's (or higher) degree OR completed the ETS ParaPro Assessment; scoring 461 or higher  Evidence of in-service training and/or successful experience working with elementary level students  Clerical and computer skills to record data, prepare progress reports, type reports, complete forms, answer emails, etc.  Instructional skills in the content areas of math, reading, and writing  Ability to lift 25 lbs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with elementary level students in an instructional setting  Experience and/or training in administering the DIBELS reading assessments  Experience/training in mathematics, reading readiness, reading and writing  Experience with various progress monitoring tools  Training or experience using a variety of evidence based reading and math curriculum  Behavior management training

ESSENTIAL JOB RELATED ACTIVITIES Depending upon individual assignment, the paraprofessional may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:  Assist in creating relationships and learning environments conducive to learning with young students  Under the guidance of the certified staff, assist in delivery of educational services to students in reading, reading readiness, writing, behavior and math including assessment, planning, and management of student records and materials  Provide small group instruction in the areas of math and reading to a variety of different grade levels  Administer the DIBELS assessment several times per year as a member of the building assessment team  Monitor student progress and regularly provide progress reports for classroom teachers  As part of the Title I team, meet regularly with classroom teachers to collaborate and discuss student progress  Work collaboratively to support the classroom, school wide and Title I programs  Work effectively with elementary-age learners  Utilize clerical skills for the keeping of data, typing of reports, completing reports, etc.  Work with students using computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and email  Self-directed and able to carry out directions from classroom teachers independently  Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff, parents, community members, other agencies)  Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner  Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work  Maintain confidentiality consistent with district ethical guidelines  Communicate clearly, orally and in writing  Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance  Work with minimal supervision and be flexible  Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the school principal or assigned administrator; receives guidance from certificated staff.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

May experience frequent interruptions; required to deal with a wide range of student behaviors and academic abilities; required to deal with a wide range of physical or emotional disabilities; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult students. TERMS OF CONTRACT:  Salary: Paraprofessional: $14.17/hour  Leaves/Benefits: Per district policy

Supervisor: Building Principal and LAP Teachers

DEFINITION OF POSITION: Under the direction of the LAP teachers, serve as a paraprofessional assisting with math, reading, reading readiness skills, and writing, and provide support services to students who demonstrate disruptive classroom behaviors at the elementary level. A change in assignment and/or location may occur based on student specific needs and variances in school enrollment.

Supervisor: Building Principal

DEFINITION OF POSITION: Support building systems coordinated through the Main Office.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Completed at least 2 years of study (72 quarter credits/48 semester credits) at an institution of higher education OR possess an associate's (or higher) degree  Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications  Possess or obtain First Aid & CPR certification within 6 months of employment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with Skyward applications  Experience with First Aid  Keyboarding, editing, and publishing skills  Effective time management and organization skills  Effective analytical and problem solving skills

ESSENTIAL JOB RELATED ACTIVITIES:

 Provide excellent client services for students, parents, and community  Demonstrate effective communication skills; verbal, written and listening  Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity  Understand FERPA laws and procedures  Prioritize and maintain a system of organization  Maintain confidentiality and be honest and trustworthy  Organize office operations and procedures  Design and ensure filing systems are maintained and up to date  Ensure protection and security of files and records  Answer and monitor phone calls and messages  Maintain office equipment  Assist with student health needs and medications per procedures from school nurse and building administrator  Assist with student health needs and nursing tasks as delegated and trained by the school nurse, if applicable; nursing tasks may include: - medication administration including oral medications, eye drops, ear drops, topical medications, inhalers, epi-pens - providing standard first aid - blood sugar monitoring - documentation (charting in health room and medication logs) - monitoring and keeping necessary supplies maintained and stocked  Assist building principal with administrative tasks  Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner  Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work  Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance  Work with minimal supervision and be flexible  Carry out other duties as assigned by the principal and/or as needed
