STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS PRACTICAL EXERCISE #1

OBJECTIVE: This Practical Exercise is designed to evaluate your ability to implement Personnel Readiness Management (PRM).

MATERIALS REQUIRED: 1. Answer sheet 2. Pencil/Pen 3. FM 1-0, HR Support 4. Student Handout (Army Manning Guidance)

INSTRUCTIONS: a. Ensure that your name, class number, and date are annotated on the answer sheet. b. This practical exercise consists of a combination of short answer and scenario based questions which will require the use of the eMILPO training database. If you are missing any questions, obtain a new booklet from your instructor. c. Each question has only one correct answer. Make all responses clearly and legibly on the answer sheet. Ensure that the question number in the booklet corresponds to the question number on the answer sheet. Read each question carefully but move on so that all questions may be answered in the allotted time. If you make a mistake or if you have to change an answer on the answer sheet, erase completely and then mark the correct answer d. Upon completion of this practical exercise, turn in your booklet; answer sheet, and any scratch paper or other issued test materials to the instructor. ______Part II (Scenario 1)

SCENARIO: You are the Brigade S-1 for the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3d Infantry Division, which is scheduled to deploy in six months. The Brigade Commander recently assumed command and was told by the Division CG during his in-brief that he (the Brigade Commander) now directs and manages pin-point assignments within the Brigade directly from HRC. The Brigade Commander has no direct experience in personnel assignments and has asked you to explain how it works. He has directed you to prepare an information paper on Personnel Readiness Management (PRM), to include the PRM relationships with Personnel Accountability (PA) and Strength Reporting (SR) and Personnel Information Management (PIM) Systems.

1. PURPOSE: To provide the Brigade Commander current information on the Army’s Personnel Readiness Management (PRM) System.

SCENARIO: You are the S-1 for your Battalion (UIC WR0751*), and in preparation for the upcoming deployment, the battalion commander has identified CPT Gallegly and SGT Duffy as the RD Commander and RD NCOIC respectively; therefore making them non-available for the deployment. Update the Soldier Availability Deployment Tracking module accordingly and then print out an updated version of the AAA- 162 for the battalion commander.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Access to the eMILPO training database is required to complete this scenario. *The UICs are structured according to the classroom (cl) and student number (sl). For example, cl 01 and sn 11 will look like (WK0111) - that is WK, cl, and sn. The AUGMENT UICs are identified as (50) therefore; as you use AUGMENT units you must inform the students to ADD (50) to their sn. For example: UIC, WD 01 01 – student number +50 rule will look will look like this: WD 01 51 cl sn cl sn

Part II (Scenario 3)

SCENARIO: You remain the S-1 for your unit (UIC WR0751*). The commander is concerned about personnel readiness and needs you to provide him with (1) a listing of those unit Soldiers that are non-available and (2) a listing of the top 5 enlisted MOS shortages. Utilize the PAVR tool to compile the data requested by the commander.
