Presidential Project Directions – For an example look at http://mstrusky923.weebly.com/ To create your web page: Go to the website www.students.weebly.com Log in using the same username and password we use for Quia Daily Quizzes. You will be automatically prompted to enter a name for your website. Type the name of your assigned president to be the title of this page. Click on the “Design” tab at the top of the web page to select a design to use for your web page – there are ways you can manipulate the top image, title and even fonts.
Now to create your “Home” page; This will serve as the presidential biography page of the assignment. Click on the “Elements” tab at the top of the page, and be sure “Basic” is selected. Drag the element of how you want your biography to look into the body of the page. Either Paragraph with Title or Paragraph with Picture is recommended. Open up your Word Document that has your biographical essay written. Copy and paste your written biography into the body of the website. Edit as necessary. At this time – click the “Publish” button in the upper right side of the web page. You will be prompted to select a domain name. Click In the box, type in your Quia username, then click “Continue”. When you get the message “Website Published”, click on the X to close that window. Special Note; I have found that it is easier to click the red/white “X” to close the site, then to reopen by selecting “edit site” from the “My Weebly” page. This is usually only necessary the first time you save your work.
Now to create your “Man of Action” page; Select the “Pages” tab at the top of the page. Click the “Add Page” button. Title your new page “Man of Action” Click the “Edit Page” button. Click on the “Elements” tab at the top of the page, and be sure “Basic” is selected. Drag the element of how you want your biography to look into the body of the page. Either Paragraph with Title or Paragraph with Picture is recommended. Open up your Word Document that has your presidential accomplishment essay. Copy and paste your written information into the body of the website. Edit as necessary. Click the “Publish” button to save your work. When you get the “Website Published” message, close that by clicking the “X” in the pop up window.
Now to create your “Image Gallery” page; Select the “Pages” tab at the top of the page. Click the “Add Page” button. Title your new page “Image Gallery” Click the “Edit Page” button. Drag either “Photo Gallery” or “Slide Show” into the body of the page. Click on the field that says “Click Here to Upload Images” Navigate to the ten images you will be using, select them and click “Open”. They will be imported into this page. You can change the order of the pictures by simply clicking and dragging them, you can also paste your captions to these images by clicking the “Add Caption” button on each picture. Click the “Publish” button to save your work. When you get the “Website Published” message, close that by clicking the “X” in the pop up window.
Now to create your “Legacy” page; Select the “Pages” tab at the top of the page. Click the “Add Page” button. Title your new page “Legacy” Click the “Edit Page” button. Click on the “Elements” tab at the top of the page, and be sure “Basic” is selected. Drag the element of how you want your Legacy statement to look into the body of the page. Either Paragraph with Title or Paragraph with Picture is recommended. Open up your Word Document that has your legacy statement is written. Copy and paste your written information into the body of the website. Edit as necessary. Click the “Publish” button to save your work. When you get the “Website Published” message, close that by clicking the “X” in the pop up window.
Now to create your “Looking for Work” page; Select the “Pages” tab at the top of the page. Click the “Add Page” button. Title your new page “Looking for Work” Click the “Edit Page” button. Click on the “Elements” tab at the top of the page, and be sure “Basic” is selected. Drag the element of how you want your Looking for Work statements to look into the body of the page. (I used a multiple columns for this page and added a picture) Open up the Word Document that has your Looking for Work section. Copy and paste your written information into the body of the website. Edit as necessary. Click the “Publish” button to save your work. When you get the “Website Published” message, close that by clicking the “X” in the pop up window.
