Dear Mooring Owner,

This is a reminder to all Brunswick mooring owners. Please submit annual mooring renewal registrations to the Brunswick Town Clerk’s office 85 Union Street Brunswick Maine 04011, on the attached form. All forms must be complete and provide accurate information. See below.

- Annual Mooring Registrations. As of 2015, all mooring owners are required to register their moorings annually. The mooring must be in use throughout the season. Your assigned mooring number shall be painted in 4 inch block letters on the side of your mooring ball. We recommended that you use a white mooring ball with a solid blue strip, and paint your numbers in contrasting color, however this not required. Please be sure that the vessel registered to the mooring is the vessel that occupies the mooring throughout the season. If this is not the case, see multi-use mooring in the section below or contact the Harbormaster’s office.

-Registration Fees. Resident $50.00 Non Resident $100.00. If your mooring is not registered by May 1st a late fee will be assessed and the cost will be double. (Resident is a person who occupies a dwelling for more than six months in a calendar year within the Town of Brunswick, a Brunswick real estate taxpayer, or a registered voter in the Town of Brunswick.) If you do not intend to install your mooring please contact the Harbormaster’s office. If owners of traditional moorings wish to convert their mooring to an environmentally appropriate mooring for their location, the Town of Brunswick has agreed to waive the annual fee for a period of five years. For more information on participating in this program, contact the Harbormaster’s office. Once your registration has been received you will receive a 2017 registration sticker that is to be affixed to the top of your mooring ball.

www.brunswickme.org/departments/police - Inspections. All mooring holders will be required to inspect their moorings every other year. This can be accomplished in a few ways, by hiring a mooring inspector, doing it yourself, hiring a marina operator, etc. Mooring owners affirm the mooring has been inspected by signing and supplying the date of inspection on the registration.

- Multi-use Moorings. These moorings are single PRIVATE moorings but may hold several different boats during the year. If you have such a mooring, please indicate it on the registration, and attach separate registrations with information on each vessel that may be secured by the mooring. IT IS ILLEGAL TO RENT PRIVATE MOORINGS.

Over the last two years there have been several other technical changes to the Brunswick Harbor Ordinance. I recommend reviewing the new mooring ordinance on the Town of Brunswick’s website (click here to go directly to the ordinance). If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Have a safe and enjoyable summer on the water.
