PART II PRODUCTS

2.01 MANUFACTURER Provide CMD automatic curved sliding door package as manufactured by Besam Automated Entrance Systems, Inc. Windsor, N.J. 08561. Perform installation by the local certified Besam Distributor.

2.02 EQUIPMENT CMD automatic curved sliding door package consisting of: 1. Aluminum frames, with sidelite and active door leafs, including top and bottom pivots and breakaway hardware for active leafs only. 2. Sliding door operator with microprocessor electronic controls with transmission rods. 3. Operator housing, floor rollers, door carriers with hardened double journal rollers.

2.03 AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR PACKAGE OPERATOR: Operating unit is a microprocessor control and electro-mechanical operator. The unit consists of a 1/8 hp, DC motor and a mechanical drive assembly. The microprocessor system automatically defines and sets the opening and closing speeds and checks of the door system. Mechanical limit switches will not be accepted. The control includes an adjustable time delay (1 to 30 seconds). Software incorporates a self diagnosing system for easy serviceability. Microprocessor control capable of accepting options such as electric locks, battery back-up units, etc. without the need for additional control mechanisms (such as, relays, power supplies, etc.).

ALUMINUM FRAMES AND DOORS: Aluminum frames and doors for the Besam CMD system fabricated of 6063-T5 alloy. Header capable of spanning 15'0" (4572mm) with intermediate supports.

Door carrier(s) incorporates two (3) nylon roller wheels per active door leaf for operation over a steel track and two (1) anti-rise roller per leaf. Drive belt is a complete unit, belts that are mechanically fastened together will not be acceptable.

The header is 4 1/4"W x 9"H and incorporates cover to allow access for adjustments. Door leaf fabrication is narrow (or medium) stile extrusions. Extrusion used for exterior glass stops to be non-removable security type glazing bead to prevent unauthorized entry.

OPERATION AND SAFETY: 1. Automatic sliding doors shall be powered by means of an electric motor and mechanical gear assembly transmitted to the active leaf(s) by a fiberglass reinforced tooth drive belt. Signals received by the motor from actuation controls shall power the door(s) to the open position. The opening cycle shall be slowed by means of microprocessor generated signal that electronically reduces voltage to the motor. The doors shall then complete the opening at slow speed until the door encounters the mechanical stop.

2. The door(s) are powered closed after remaining in the open position for the pre-set time delay. The door(s) return at the normal closing speed until they encounter a signal from the microprocessor at which point, speed is reduced, slowing the doors to creep speed until they reach the fully closed position.

3. EMERGENCY BREAKAWAY: The system is equipped with emergency release hardware which allows for the active leaf(s) to swing out in the direction of egress. Breakaway pressure is field adjustable to local Building Code requirements, but will be factory set at 50 pounds maximum in accordance with ANSI/BHMA Standard 156.10-1991.

4. WATCHDOG MONITORING: Microprocessor software is designed to constantly monitor system operations. Should door(s) speed, motor function or operations deviate from design criteria ranges, the Watchdog control circuit assumes command of the system and shuts down the automatic function by holding door(s) open. A secondary supervisory circuit monitors the main Watchdog control circuit every 255 door cycles, ready to perform as a back up.

ENERGY SAVING DEVICE: Standard: Each CMD is equipped with a control (knob or key) for reducing the door opening size. The switch is located in the interior vertical jamb of the automatic door. Five different door opening settings can be selected: off, exit only, 2 way traffic, partial opening, fully open. In partial opening mode, the switch reduces the total door opening to reduce conditioned air loss. Through microprocessor programmed intelligence, door opening automatically resumes the full open position whenever traffic flow exceeds pre-set volumes. When traffic subsides, door returns to reduced opening mode. The door system is equipped with heavy weather pile between the doors and sidelites, between emergency breakaway hardware and door stiles.

2.04 MOTION SENSOR CONTROL DEVICE ACTIVATING DEVICES: MOTION DETECTION: Each unit is provided with an adjustable motion sensing system mounted on the face of the header (or above the header line).

PRESENCE DETECTION: automatic sliding door package is equipped with the PIR doorway monitoring system to control door opening, closing and hold open functions. The PIR system is mounted in three locations above the doorway threshold on the underside of the automatic sliding door header and provides presence detection. The automatic door equipment sensing device automatically reverses the door(s) should an obstruction be encountered during the closing cycle, returning the door(s) to the full open position. When an obstruction is encountered in the opening cycle, the door comes to a complete stop. (The next full cycle after an obstruction has been encountered is a "search mode" cycle wherein the door opens and closes in a creep speed mode.)

2.05 ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND COMPONENTS Electrical Characteristics: The D.C. motor shall not exceed 5 amps current draw. Electrical: dedicated 115V, 60 Hz, 10 amp incoming power with a solid earth ground connection for each automatic door package (two packages on a 20 amp circuit). Provide two low voltage 18 gauge stranded wires from automatic operator to remote (50 feet max.) activation devices (if required).

2.06 FINISHES All exposed aluminum surfaces are dark bronze anodized (AAC23A44) or clear anodized (AAC22A31). Custom finishes such as stainless steel clad are available, if specified. Powder coat painted finish is available with match to Kynar colors.

PART III EXECUTION

3.01 EXAMINATION Verify the openings are plumb and are dimensioned properly. Insure adequate support has been provided at the operator header. Proceed with the installation only after conditions are deemed satisfactory.

3.02 INSTALLATION & ADJUSTMENT Install equipment in accordance with Besam installation instructions. Adjust equipment per instructions and current ANSI 156.10.
