2016 Bay View Week of Handbells Repertoire March 7, 2016
Greetings, Ringers!
I can now announce the music list for this year’s Week of Handbells. It’s always fun choosing music, and at the same time frustrating because a lot of great music has to be left out. I appreciate your suggestions, and I have looked at all suggestions, but for a variety of reasons some pieces had to be eliminated, or possibly saved for another year. At one point I had 23 pieces I wanted to do, but reluctantly I winnowed it down to the usual 13 pieces. Here they are, as usual, in tentative program order:
1. PROCESSIONAL by Arnold Sherman (organ and bells) Agape 2195 2. ALLEGRETTO arr. Michael Mazzatenta From the Top Music 20428 3. ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING arr. Alex Guebert Choristers Guild CGB962 4. OBLIVION by Douglas Anderson From the Top Music 20426 5. SONATA IN BAROQUE STYLE by Michael Helman Beckenhorst HB497 6. GIVE ME JESUS arr. John Behnke AGEHR AG46025 7. TOCCATA ON ‘KING’S WESTON arr. Matthew Compton Agape 2767 ** Intermission ** 8. THE DRUNKEN SAILOR arr. Carl Wiltse Stained Glass Music [catalog number unknown at this time] 9. TICO TICO NO FUBÁ arrr. Larry Sue Order direct from Larry Sue; see instructions below 10. AUTUMN LEAVES arr. Andrea Handley Red River Music RRG5018 11. NOLLIRAC CARILLON by Fred Gramann Unpublished; available only from Heitz Handbells and Music 12. GIVE US PEACE IN OUR TIME arr. Donald E. Allured Composers Music Company HW0550 13. CONCERTO FOR HANDBELLS AND ORGAN IN BAROQUE STYLE by Michael Helman Beckenhorst HB424A 14. THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU by Peter Lutkin (sung; not played) Any SATB vocal score from your church’s library will suffice.
Please order your music from our music vendor, Heitz Handbells and Music, 6603 Queen Ave S, Suite S, Richfield MN 55423. Phone: 612.208.1741 or 877.426.3235. Email: heitzhandbells.com. Website: www.heitzhandbells.com. Carol Scheel can get all the music for you except TICO TICO, and she is the only place you can get Fred Gramann’s piece.
To get a copy of TICO TICO NO FUBA, Larry writes: “The easiest way by far is direct ordering at http://www.choraegus.com/wordpress/ring/full-handbell-choir/tico-tico-no-fuba/ - for those who don’t have a PayPal account, we can work it out by mail.”
One or two pieces are not yet available, but will be soon. Order your music as soon as you can so you can start getting familiar with your part. A Position Chart is being emailed to you along with this list. Performance Notes will come in a few weeks. Now, regarding the Position Chart, I have done my best to accommodate everyone’s requests. I believe with only one or two exceptions, everyone got one of their requested positions. Many got their first choice; many did not. If I have put you in a position which you don’t feel you can play, let me know, and I’ll see what can be done to remedy it. My email address is [email protected].
Many thanks to Carmen Massaro for sending this out for me, and for all the work he has done just getting us to this point in time, including the registration process. You’ll be hearing more from him as time goes on.
I’ll see you in Bay View!
Cheers! Carl
