Santa Barbara, CA, May 8, 2018 – The Lobero Ghostlight Society is proud to present a rare evening with Alan Bergman, one of America’s greatest songwriters, on May 17. The songs in Alan Bergman’s celebrated catalogue have earned an astounding 16 Academy Award nominations (ultimately winning three Oscars,) and multiple Emmys and Grammys as lyricists for film, stage and television. Mr. Bergman, along with his wife Marilyn, have penned many unforgettable classics including, “The Windmills of Your Mind,” “The Way We Were,” “What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?,” “Nice ’N’ Easy,” “How do you Keep the Music Playing?,” “Moonlight,” and the score for “Yentl.”
The songs of Alan and Marilyn Bergman have been enriching the great American songbook for over five decades. As lyricists for film, stage and television, they have created many unforgettable images with their lyrical mastery, and have worked with the best of the best in the music business including Henry Mancini, Johnny Mandel, John Williams, Quincy Jones, and James Newton Howard. Theirs is one of the most successful songwriting collaborations in an era of great popular music.
1 Lobero Ghostlight Society presents An Evening with Alan Bergman | Joining Mr. Bergman in a special appearance is jazz chanteuse Tierney Sutton. The five- time Grammy® nominee is often described as “a singer’s singer”, who has fronted the Tierney Sutton Band for 20 years, and their nine albums have consistently topped the U.S. jazz charts. Ms. Sutton has been selected as Jazzweek’s Vocalist of the Year and accumulated several Jazz Journalist Award nominations during her career.
Also appearing with Mr. Bergman will be Bill Cantos on piano and Trey Henry on bass.
Tickets for An Evening with Alan Bergman are on sale now at Lobero.com. Prices are $40, $50, with a limited number of VIP tickets for $130, which include exclusive VIP post-show reception with Mr. Bergman on the Lobero Stage. All prices include facility fee. VIP tickets include priority seating, private reception and recognition in the event program with a tax- deductible gift to the Lobero Theatre.

Alan & Marilyn Bergman, Selected Honors Alan & Marilyn were inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame in 1980. In 1986 they received the Clooney Foundation Singers Salute to the Songwriter Award, and in 1987 the Songwriter's Guild Aggie Award. In 1995 Alan & Marilyn received Honorary Doctorate degrees from the Berklee College of Music and were recipients of the National Academy of Songwriters Lifetime Achievement Award. 1997 brought them the Songwriters Hall of Fame Johnny Mercer Award, and in 1998 they received a cultural Medal of Honor in Spain. In 1999, their talent was celebrated with an evening of Lyrics by Alan & Marilyn Bergman at Carnegie Hall. June 2000 brought them the National Music Publishers Association Lifetime Achievement Award. In June of 2002 they were honored with the Governor's Award from the National Association of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), and the Fall of 2003 brought them the first ever Johnny Mercer Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2004, Alan & Marilyn were honored at The Flanders Film Festival with the World Soundtrack Lifetime Achievement Award. Their 50-year collaboration was marked in 2006 by another evening at Carnegie Hall: The Way We Are: Celebrating the Lyrics of Alan & Marilyn Bergman. In 2009, they received Honorary Doctorate Degrees from the
