EXPERIENCE Philips Research Cambridge, MA Nov 2013 - Present Principal Software Engineer Designed and developed a scheduling service for a cloud-based bioinformatic analysis system using Visual Studio 2017 and .NetCore 2.0. Contributed to the development of the front end of a cloud-based bioinformatic analysis system using AngularJS

Designed and developed a suite of tools to automate bioinformatic workflows for Philips Research. Developed using Python and Django.

Contributed to the design & development of the Philips cloud-based clinical analytics dashboard. Responsible for designing and developing the VB.Net logic that implemented the rules based engine, designing the HL7 inbound and outbound interfaces, and working closely with the system architects and Philips developers. Developed using C#, VB.Net, HL7.

SimulConsult Chestnut Hill, MA Jul 2013 – Mar 2016 Principal Software Engineer Contributing to the development of several web applications that interface with SimulConsult's diagnostic decision support software. Developed using AngualrJS, Java, GWT, Eclipse, Hibernate and MySQL. Here’s one web application whose front end was written in AngularJS and whose back end was written as a Java servlet.

Frisco Software Highlands Ranch, CO Jan 2013 – Oct 2017 Founder/Developer Development of mobile apps for Android, iPhone and Windows platforms. Our first android app, Timely Text, was published in April, 2013 using Android SDK, Eclipse, Java and SQLite. Also pubished TinelyTextPro. About to publish Virtices Protect for both Android and iOS, developed using Xamarin Studio.

Philips Healthcare Andover, MA Oct 2011 – Mar 2013 Principal Software Engineer Technical consultant liaison between Philips and a dozen members of the VA Hospital System; responsibilities included the configuration, testing and troubleshooting of the Philips Electronic Medical Record application (ICCA), HL7 interfaces, VistA/DataBridge interface issues, and programming the Orion Rhapsody Integration Engine to map HL7 messages sent from VistA to a form compatible with the Philips EMR application. Familiar with clinical data concepts. Developed using HL7, Rhapsody, C#, VB.Net.

Epsilon Data Management Wakefield, MA Jan 2010 – Oct 2011 Principal Software Engineer Designed & developed middle-tier ETL components as part of real time and batch transaction processors used for database marketing. Refactored code to process incoming data source from XML as well as from database; defined XML schema. Developed web interface to administer processing. Refactored existing code and created class hierarchies to support the processing of multiple record types and formats. Developed using Visual Studo 2010, VB.Net, C#, LINQ to XML, ASP.NET, Resharper, nUnit, ADO.NET, XML and SQLDeveloper/Oracle11g. Created a support tools framework. Created a build analyzer to ensure that all source code adheres to specified conventions. Extended a document export service to be event triggered. Refactored infusion pump auto charting to be used by anesthesia recording application. Created an ADT front end and tester and database message queuing system for a healthcare integration platform. Promoted software pattern and practice improvements. Introduced test-driven development.

Product depended on hybrid distributed architecture for connected and disconnected operations.

J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Lowell, MA May 2003 – Aug 2003 Principal Software Engineer Migrated several 16 bit MFC financial client-server applications to an N-Tier (Presentation, Business, Data) architecture using .Net, C#, WinForms, ADO.NET and Infragistics controls, SQLBase and SQLServer 2000.

Houston Livestock & Rodeo Houston, TX Feb 2003 – Apr 2003 Principal Software Engineer Designed & developed a multi-threaded client-server application for scheduling and managing broadcast graphic elements using the Pinnacle Systems, Inc. DekoCast graphics server using .Net, C#, ADO.NET, XML & sockets.

Pinnacle Systems, Inc. Rochelle Park, NJ Nov 2002 – May 2003 Principal Software Engineer Designed and developed a file replicator application for the Pinnacle Systems, Inc. DekoCast graphics playout device using VB6 and C#. Files or folders anywhere on your LAN may be replicated to any other location on your LAN on demand, when scheduled, or when changed.

Switchboard, Inc. Westboro, MA Sep 2002 – Apr 2003 Principal Software Engineer Designed and developed base classes, error and exception handling mechanism, order, billing and product configuration tools for an N-Tier .NET CRM web application using: ASP.NET, ADO.NET, C#, SQL2000, Stored Procedures, Windows2000 and IIS5. Developed Presentation layer in aspx pages, Business Logic layer in c# code behind classes and data tier in several stand alone c# classes. The entire application consists of six separate projects used to encapsulate disparate functionality and development efforts. The CRM application communicates with a COM based ASP3.0 web application (described below 11/2000-03/2002).

Wearlogic, Inc. Wakefield, MA May 2002 – Aug 2002 Principal Software Engineer Designed and developed user authorization and reporting applications for an N-Tier .NET e-commerce web application using Microsoft technology: ASP. NET, ADO. NET, C#, SQL2000, Stored Procedures, Windows2000, IIS5 and Crystal Reports. This application enables highly targeted retail loyalty programs at the retailers’ Point-of-Sale. Applications consist of customer configuration, retailer configuration, loyalty program configuration tools as well as a reporting application.

Switchboard, Inc. Westboro, MA Nov 2000 – Mar 2002 Principal Software Engineer Designed and developed an N-tier web application using Microsoft technology: Windows2000, IIS5/ASP3, VB6, COM+, C++, SQL2000/Stored Procedures. The design and development was completed in three months. An N-tier architecture was chosen for scalability, extensibility and flexibility. The user interface was implemented in ASP, the business logic tier and data tiers were implemented in VB, and the database server in SQL Server 2000. The application allows a large internet portal company (AOL) to support a custom designed yellow page directory where authenticated and privileged users may insert, modify, delete, and view business listings. Developed ASP pages with client-side JavaScript. Designed and developed COM+ business & data tier objects. Created Stored Procedures to centralize data access & Designed database schema. Enhanced multi-threaded NT Service. xmlexpress, inc. Arlington, MA Mar 2000 – Nov 2000 Co-Founder/Developer Developed the architecture and design of a sophisticated automatic document conversion system, which intelligently converts text, HTML and Microsoft Word documents into XML documents. Developed a (patent-pending) model for conversion that included Natural Language Processing of source documents. Developed and deployed prototype clients for Win2K/Win98, and a web-based system (using HTML and XML, Visual Basic/ASP, IIS and SQL Server 7).

Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products Burlington, MA Feb 1998 - Feb 2000 Principal Software Engineer Medical Products Group Designed & developed a system that allows clinicians to dictate reports quickly, with little training while capturing data in structured format (XML). Analysis, high level & detailed design, and implementation of a voice-enabled distributed domain independent structured reporting application. The system employed legacy Knowledge Processing tools and Document Management Systems (Interchange2000). Developed a voice enabled rich text edit ActiveX control (VB,ATL). Authored requirements & design specification documents (UML,Visio,Rose). Developed system (VJ+ +,COM/DCOM,HTML,ATL,XML,XSL,ASP,IIS).

Hewlett-Packard Company Andover, MA Aug 1997 – May 1998 Principal Software Engineer Medical Products Group Designed and developed GUI components for a medical data input and verification system (Physician Order Entry EMR). Designed using Model-View-Controller (MVC) paradigm. Implemented using Visual Café 2.5, JDK 1.1.5, JFC-1.0 & 3rd party widgets on NT4.0. Developed generic GUI utility classes, components and design documents.

Kurzweil Applied Intelligence Waltham, MA Feb 1997 – Jan 1998 Principal Software Engineer Medical Products Group Developed the graphical user interface and business objects for editing the object-oriented database of a voice-enabled structured medical reporting system. Developed in VB 5.0 on NT 4.0. Windows API, & 3rd party ActiveX controls.
