Bosnia and Herzegovina (country code +387) Communication of 29.XI.2001: The Communications Regulatory Agency (CRA), Sarajevo, announces the introduction of the new destination codes 61, 63 and 65 in the mobile GSM network. Existing mobile GSM network operators shall commence to use the new destination codes at the latest on 15 February 2002. Parallel functioning of the new destination codes (61, 63 and 65) and the old destination code (66) will last until 31 May 2002, when the old code shall become ineffective.

ITU OB 755-E / 6 Egypt (country code +20) Communication of 2.XII.2001: Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA), Giza, announces the entry into service of the following subscriber number range (and extension (E)): Exchange Area code New numbering range Date of entry into service Kerdasa (E) 2 7990000-7994999 25.XI.2001 El Maadi 4 (E) 2 7044000-7049999 25.XI.2001 El Maadi 4 (E) 2 7055000-7058999 25.XI.2001

Greece (country code +30) Communication of 7.XII.2001: The National Telecommunications and Post Commission of Greece (EETT), Maroussi, announces that the parallel stage of the old numbering scheme with the new national numbering plan (NNP) of Greece (country code +30) ends on 20 January 2002. From that date on, only calls accessing numbers consistent with the new NNP will be completed. Calls accessing numbers consistent with the old numbering scheme will be routed to a recorded announcement informing about the changes and the call will be discontinued. The description of the new NNP of Greece is presented in the ITU Operational Bulletin No. 744 (15.VII.2001). According to the new scheme, geographical numbers have nine-digit national (significant) numbers (N(S)N). This is achieved by adding the digit ‘0’ between the national destination code (NDC) and the subscriber number (SN) of the existing numbers, as indicated in the examples of the table below: Conversion Table for the new NNP of Greece Geographic Area NDC Existing numbers New numbers (valid until 19.I.2002) (valid from 8.VII.2001) ATHENS 1 +30 1 XXXXXXX +30 1 0 XXXXXXX PATRAS 61 +30 61 XXXXXX +30 61 0 XXXXXX CORFOU 661 +30 661 XXXXX +30 661 0 XXXXX
Thus the digit “0” is inserted as the first digit of all SNs of the previous scheme. NDCs do not change. Note that EETT has recently assigned to operators blocks of geographical numbers having the digit “1” as the first digit of the subscriber number (SN), i.e. +30 1 1XXXXXXX, +30 61 1XXXXXX, +30 661 1XXXXX, etc., which will be soon activated. Further information regarding the assignments of numbers can be accessed at EETT’s website (http://www.eett.gr). EETT has also assigned blocks of E.164 numbers to the new mobile telephony operator Info Quest S.A within the number range 99 (+30 99 XXX XXXX). Thus, the existing ranges for mobile telephony numbers are 93, 94, 97 and 99.
ITU OB 755-E / 7 All Administrations/ROAs are requested to ensure that access is given to numbers according to the new NNP of Greece.

Malawi (country code +265) Communication of 30.XII.2001: Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), Blantyre, announces that changes are to be introduced into the National Numbering Plan for the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN), as from 1 July 2002. Subscriber numbers will increase in length from six (6) digits to seven (7) digits. Each network shall have its own network access code. The International public telecommunication number structure of Malawi will have ten (10) digits in all (including country code +265). (CC) + N(S)N = ten (10) digits, where CC is the country code consisting of three (3) digits, N(S)N is the national (significant) number consisting of seven (7) digits. In Malawi, the N(S)N is the same as the subscriber number (SN). General features of the new plan The network access code will be added in front of the existing six (6) digit N(S)N to form the new seven (7) digit N(S)N. Network Access Code Network Operator 1 Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) 8 Telekom Networks Malawi Limited (TNML) – Cellular Mobile Operator 9 CELTEL – Cellular Mobile Operator
The rapid growth of the telecommunication market due to the recent full liberalization of the industry has led to a substantial increase in the use of number resources, making it necessary to expand the capacity of the numbering plan. Timetable for implementation of the new plan Country Date and local time Date and time (UTC) Malawi 1 July 2002 at 0800 hours 1 July 2002 at 0600 hours
Specific examples: Overseas calls to a MTL (PSTN) subscriber in Malawi: – The number currently dialled is +265 623611. – As from 1 July 2002 the corresponding number will be +265 1 623611.
