Compared to Other Country Rock Artists in Europe, Liane Edwards Is Like a Shot of Whiskey in a World of Sweet Tea Compared to other country rock artists in Europe, Liane Edwards is like a shot of whiskey in a world of sweet tea. Unlike the bands that sing songs about the South but yet have never seen a Carolina sunset, she is the real thing. But she has been doing her (own) thing for nearly 20 years, and doing it well. Liane Edwards was born in North Carolina. Raised in a family of musicians, her first stage performances were in Southern Baptist churches at the age of 7. She arrived in France in the 90’s and found the best French musicians to accompany her on her personal crazy train. Together, they have been touring for nearly 20 years, and have given well over 2000 stage shows throughout France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Holland, Scotland, Lithuania and the USA. Singer/songwriters, their song list will keep feet tapping. What is the reason for their success? They have put a good dose of rock into their country, a surprising cocktail that chips away at preconceived ideas about what country music really is. This chick is dynamite!! This thesis explores how Jazz developed in Israel and the role education played. Jazz Education in Israel discusses the origin of educational programs such as the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music (1985) and the New School Jazz Program (1986). One question that was imperative to this study was attempting to discover exactly how Jazz became a cultural import and export within Israel. Our society now has a desire for human affairs to be guided by technological solutions and ―technology-generated evidence‖ (McGovern, Gerry 2010). Simply stated, technology has become the panacea to the world‘s problems. This is seen in way we use twitter and facebook to make connections. It is used at airports as the solution for identifying suspicious people, and screening for dangerous material. On our campuses, technology‘s role has expanded to sort through students‘ demographic and academic information using retention algorithms to identify at-risk students—ranging from persistence concerns to those who may be more likely to create a crisis situation on your campus. These linear approaches ignore the value of the rich resources in which we live, learn, work, and communicate—our system. There is a new attitude emerging from this technologically-saturated milieu. When we evaluate the true implications of a linear approach, common sense recognizes that technology, however helpful it may be, needs to be placed in balance with other elements of our system. The pendulum is swinging back to an attitude that supports the value of human contributions to problem solving, decision-making, and crisis management. For example, security experts are now suggesting that ―technology should support people…skilled people (should be) at the center of our security concept rather than the other way around‖ (Gurion, 2010).
