In accordance with FAA guidance Part 135 certificate holders may develop and submit for approval multiple curricula for a particular category of training, crewmember duty position, and aircraft make, model, and series (M/M/S). These curricula may have different planned hours based on the crewmember’s previous knowledge and skill. Reduced training hour curricula may be developed for initial, transition, or upgrade training, and must contain all the elements of the full course. Reductions may be made in planned hours for aircraft-specific systems ground training and/or flight training based on a crewmember’s previous knowledge and skill. Certificate holders that choose to develop multiple curricula must clearly specify the prerequisites for entry into each specific course.

To be eligible for an Alternate Training Course, crewmembers must have previous experience in Part 135 or Part 91K operations in the assigned aircraft type. PIC applicants must have completed a PIC proficiency check in accordance with 135.293/297 or 91.1065/1069 and SIC applicants must have completed an SIC proficiency check in accordance with 135.293 or 91.1065.

The chart below identifies the appropriate Alternate Course based on the most recent date crewmembers previous Part 135 or Part 91K proficiency check in the assigned aircraft type. The certificate holder is responsible for the Course selection and for the verification of previous flight checks.
