COLOGNE, Germany, Oct. 24, 2016 – The Ford Mondeo Vignale and Ford S-MAX Vignale – the first two models offered in the upscale Ford Vignale range – deliver high quality craftsmanship, superior refinement, and exclusive specification.

Both the sophisticated Ford Mondeo Vignale – initially offered as a four-door or wagon and also available from next year in five-door bodystyle – and the Ford S-MAX seven-seat sports activity vehicle are hand-finished by dedicated craftspeople in a meticulous process that includes high- tech production techniques and 100 additional quality checks.

Carefully executed exterior detailing enhances exclusivity, with the signature Ford Vignale hexagonal upper grille design and exclusive colours including Vignale White Platinum and Vignale Milano Grigio. Interiors deliver luxurious materials, including hexagonal-quilted Windsor leather featuring prominent tuxedo-style stitching for the seats and door interiors.

Refinement is enhanced with Ford Active Noise Control,* which directs opposing sound waves through the audio system to cancel out engine noise and improve cabin ambience.

Further advanced technologies include Ford Dynamic LED headlights with Adaptive Front Lighting System that adjusts the headlight beam angle and intensity to match the driving environment, and Ford’s SYNC 3 communication and entertainment system, which delivers faster performance and an 8-inch touch screen that enables pinch and swipe gestures.

“Our customers have high aspirations, and they want more from Ford. On some vehicles, our top-of-the-line Titanium specifications make up 70 per cent of all sales,” said Jim Farley, Chairman and CEO of Ford of Europe. “With Ford Vignale, we can offer them the absolute best of Ford in terms of luxury and personal service.”

Handcrafted and individually tailored

For news releases, related materials, photos and video, visit www.fordmedia.eu or www.media.ford.com. Follow www.twitter.com/FordEu or www.youtube.com/fordofeurope Each Ford Mondeo Vignale and Ford S-MAX Vignale is hand-finished by six master craftspeople at the state-of-the-art Vignale Centre at Ford’s manufacturing facility in Valencia, Spain, where vehicles are individually tailored to customer specification.

Ford Vignale blends traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. The latest laser and camera technology supports the artisan’s trained eye in closely examining every aspect of a Vignale vehicle from bodyshell and panel alignment to paint finish.

Passionate about precision and attention to detail, experts spend more than two hours hand-polishing the paintwork to create the perfect high-gloss finish; and also carefully scrutinise the fine detailing and stitching of individual laser-cut pieces of leather trim fitted to each seat.

The unique character of the Ford Mondeo Vignale and Ford S-MAX Vignale interiors is heightened with tuxedo-stitched, hexagonal-quilted Windsor leather seats. Soft-touch elements extend to the central armrest and storage console, door top rolls and instrument panel. A woven aluminium applique features on the S-MAX Vignale passenger side instrument panel.

Exclusive exterior details include the signature Ford Vignale hexagonal upper grille design with polished aluminium surround; chrome door details; unique alloy wheel designs and a Vignale- embossed wrap-around applique for the Ford S-MAX Vignale rear liftgate.

The new Ford Vignale Mondeo model in five-door bodystyle was presented for the first time earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Ford Mondeo Vignale and Ford S-MAX Vignale customers also will be offered further customer tailored personalisation options including dark alloy wheels and foglamp surrounds, and exteriors without additional chrome detailing.

Every Ford Vignale model features an exclusive Vignale script, inspired by Alfredo Vignale’s signature. The positioning of all badges, trim and exterior ornamentation is precisely checked by the Vignale team using laser gauges.

“Ford Vignale design exudes sophistication and premium sportiness,” said Joel Piaskowski, director, Design, Ford of Europe. “For customers, Ford Vignale is a more individualistic way to enjoy luxury and express your style.”

Refinement enhanced The Ford Mondeo Vignale and Ford S-MAX Vignale deliver a quiet, smooth and comfortable ride using sophisticated technologies and advanced chassis structures.

Ford’s Active Noise Control uses three microphones strategically placed throughout the cabin to monitor engine noise in the interior, and deploys opposing sound waves to counter unwanted noises from the engine and transmission within the cabin. Enhanced sound insulation better isolates road noise, and acoustic glass helps to reduce wind noise to levels normally experienced only in the premium segment.

Ford’s integral link rear suspension offers a smooth ride in particular for rear seat passengers and reduces noise levels by allowing the wheel to move further rearwards on impact with bumps. For front passengers, comfort is enhanced by Multi-Contour Seats with Active Motion massage function. Designed to reduce muscle fatigue particularly on longer journeys, the seats use 11 inflatable cushions for an unobtrusive massaging effect on thighs, bottom and lower back.

Follow www.twitter.com/FordEu or www.youtube.com/fordofeurope Technology and powertrains The Ford Mondeo Vignale and Ford S-MAX Vignale offer sophisticated driver assistance technologies and equipment that contribute to a simplified and stress-free driving experience, including Ford’s SYNC 3 communication and entertainment system.

Simply by pushing a button and saying “I need a coffee,” “I need petrol,” and “I need to park,” drivers can find nearby cafés, petrol stations or car parks, as well as locate train stations, airports, and hotels. The system then guides the driver to the selected destination via the navigation.

Further technologies include:  Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, which can reduce the severity of some frontal collisions involving vehicles and pedestrians, or help drivers avoid some impacts altogether  Active Park Assist featuring Perpendicular Parking enables drivers to detect suitably-sized parking spaces and reverse hands-free into them  Ford Dynamic LED headlights, which combine the daylight-mimicking light clarity of full-LED headlamps with Ford’s Adaptive Front Lighting System that adjusts the headlight beam angle and intensity to match the driving environment, including a Weather-Dependent Lighting mode that automatically adjusts headlights to help drivers spot roadside hazards in extreme heavy rain

The Ford S-MAX Vignale also offers Front Wide-View Camera technology that can see around corners even when drivers cannot – reducing stress and potentially helping avert collisions. Adaptive Cruise Control technology uses forward-facing radar to enable drivers to maintain a set distance from the vehicle ahead.

Inflatable Rear Seatbelts improve safety for Ford Mondeo Vignale rear-seat passengers by rapidly expanding in the event of an accident to disperse crash forces across a body area five times greater than that achieved by a conventional seatbelt.

**The declared Fuel/Energy Consumptions, CO2 emissions and electric range are measured according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EC) 692/2008 as last amended. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are specified for a vehicle variant and not for a single car. The applied standard test procedure enables comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. In addition to the fuel efficiency of a car, driving behaviour as well as other non-technical factors play a role in determining a car's fuel/energy consumption, CO2 emissions and electric range. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming.
