In response to your Email dated December 8, 2006, our office would not be in a position to answer your question, as our office does not deal with consumer affairs on a daily basis. Since Ms. Clother’s resignation no replacement has been made, further to that no legislation was put forward to government as no personnel was available to deal with this office on a full time bases.
1. Do you have a data base of complaints catalogued by various factors, such as nature of complaint, where the consumer and business are located, the resolution of the complaint, etc.? If so, is that information in a format that could be sent to me? NO
2. Have you expanded your consumer education efforts since 2000 and, if so, how? NO
3. What appear to be the major problems facing consumers in Belize today? Are they different from 2000? NOTHINGS CHANGES
4. What are your current priorities in the consumer protection area? NONE AT THIS TIME
5. Are there any other, new consumer organizations in Belize since 2000? NO
6. Have there been any new consumer protection legislation or regulations since 2000? NO
7. Have you added any new staff or initiated any new projects since 2000? NO
8. Are there other people I should contact about consumer protection/advertising and marketing practices in Belize? CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND BUSINESS BUREAU
