My Essay:------>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ~Kings Speech~
The Declaration of Independence firmly asserts, “All men are created equal.” Then, men and women weren’t treated the way they were supposed to be, they were not the same as the white people. They didn’t have the right to use same objects as the white people. African Americans and women could not own property, vote, or earn a fair wage. They were not treated right, for they were different from the white people. One day, King stepped up to say his speech and from that day on, he changed everyone’s lives. Martin Luther King uses specific structure and language in his letter to influence his audience about what he has to say.
First of all, While King confined here in the Birmingham city jail, He came across the recent statement calling my present activities “unwise and untimely.” Seldom does he pause to answer criticism of his work and ideas. If he sought to answer all the criticisms that cross my desk, his secretaries would have little time for anything other than such correspondence in the course of the day, and he would have no time for constructive work. But since he feels that you are men of genuine good will and that your criticisms are sincerely set forth, he wants to try to answer your statement in what he hopes will be patient and reasonable terms. King had also included: “I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.” King surely did feel that freedom was needed at the time when he lived in the unfair land. He had the honor of serving as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization operating in every southern state, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. He had some eighty five affiliated organizations rights. Frequently they share staff, educational and financial resources with our affiliates. Several months ago the affiliate then in Birmingham asked them to be on call to engage in a nonviolent direct action program if such were deemed necessary. They readily consented, and when the hour came, they lived up to our promise, so I, along with several members of my staff, am here because He invited us here. He is here because he has organizational ties there.
Last of all, it was true that the police have exercised a degree of discipline in handling the demonstrators. In this sense they have conducted themselves rather “nonviolently” in public. To preserve the evil system of segregation. Over the past few years King has consistently preached that nonviolently demands that the mean we use must be a pure as the ends. He has tried to make clear that it is wrong to use immoral means to attain moral ends. But now King must affirm that it is just as wrong or perhaps even more so, to use moral means to preserve immoral ends. When Martin Luther King concludes his speech, I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slave and the sons of former slaves owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood,” he creates a hopeful mood through his use of figurative language. Perhaps Mr. Connor and his policeman have been rather nonviolent in public, as was Chief Pritchett in Albany, Georgia, but they have used the moral means of nonviolence to maintain the immoral end of racial injustice. As T.S. Eliot has said: “The last temptation is the greatest treason: To do the right deed for the wrong reason.”
All in all, Kings Speech was strong enough to change people’s mind thinking and big enough their lives. After that, black and white people were able to live, use and do stuff together in peace. Martin Luther King used specific structure and language in his letter to influence his audience about what he has to say. King said: “And that was a day when Gods children will be able to sing with a meaning!”
