Development Opportunity Would you like to become a Volunteer HIV Awareness Trainer?
Applicants MUST be able to attend three full days training on 24th, 25th & 26th February 2016 and be available for on-going session delivery, mentoring & development as detailed below.
The Sexual Health Training Team is seeking to expand its Volunteer HIV Awareness Training Team.
If you are a permanent employee of the Belfast or South Eastern HSC Trusts’ and have at least 1 years’ experience delivering training or education as well as a keen interest in HIV and sexual health why not apply to join the HIV Awareness training team?
Trainers’ engage on a voluntary basis and must have prior agreement from their Line Manager before committing themselves to becoming a Trainer.
There are no costs attached to becoming an HIV Awareness Trainer, with all support and training provided for free including a training manual, resources and on-going support.
Time Commitment in the first year:
Initial 3 day training course Follow-up mentoring and supervision with a mentor for the year following training which will include:
Observing 2 HIV Awareness Sessions Co-facilitating 4 HIV Awareness Sessions
Following successful induction:
Preparation and delivery of a minimum of four half-day training sessions annually (one per quarter) Two days’ training and support annually. Two HIV Training Team meetings per year

Essential Criteria for applicants is as follows:
Be a permanent employee of Belfast or South Eastern HSC Trusts’ and have at least 1 years’ experience of delivering training, education or group work
Must be able to:
Demonstrate a positive attitude in respect of HIV, Sexual Health and related issues.
Comfortable talking about HIV and sexual health, demonstrating sensitivity to people’s anxieties around these issues.
Demonstrate effective communication and group facilitation skills and be willing to facilitate group discussion around such sensitive issues e.g. sex, condom use, stigma and discrimination (training provided).
Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
Must commit to:
Attending 3 full days training on 24th, 25th & 26th February 2016 and commit to a schedule of follow up monitoring and supervision and session delivery.
Being an active part of the HIV training team for at least 2 years.
Providing the minimum of four half-day HIV awareness training sessions each year across the Trust. .
Keeping Continuous Professional Development up to date relating to HIV and sexually transmitted infections and sexual health.
