Game Notes:  The Matadors broke open a 0-0 tie in the fifth inning. With two on and one out, Scooter Bynum hit home one runner. A Western Nevada error allowed another Matador run to score to make it 2-0. Austin Maltby doubled home two more runs to make it 4-0.  In the bottom half of the inning, Western Nevada loaded the bases with no outs, but Matador starter Jayden Murray limited the damage and only allowed one run across when Justin Mannens hit a one-out single. Murray threw five innings and only allowed one run on five hits while walking three and striking out five.  Arizona Western tacked on two more in the sixth. With two on and one out, Bynum hit his second RBI single of the game to make it 5-1. The Matadors scored one more when Dom Rodriguez came home on a throw.  In the seventh inning, Western Nevada loaded the bases again, this time with one out on Matador reliever Adan Vega. Bradley Lewis hit a single that sent one run home, but the Matador defense tagged out the second runner at the plate. A force out ended the inning to keep the Matador lead at 6-2.  Judah Zickafoose whacked a solo home run to start the eighth inning to make it 7-2. It was his second homer of the season.  Western Nevada loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the eighth on relief pitcher James Goodwin. An error at short allowed one run to score and chased Goodwin. Brody Kato came on in relief, and WNC’s Tim Lichty knocked in two runs with a single to make it 7-5. Bradley Lewis hit a three-run home run to put Western Nevada up 8-7.  In the ninth, the Matadors tied it up when Austin Maltby launched a solo homer, his first of the season. 2016 BASEBALL MINI-BOX

 Landon Riker gave the Matadors the lead in the 10th. He led off with a double and was sacrificed to third. A wild pitch sent him home to put Arizona Western up 9-8.  The Matadors split the four-game series with Western Nevada.
