Duties and Responsibilities

 Responds to staff security emergencies and provide immediate assistance.  Receive refugees, visitors and staff.  Ensure that attendance and visitors logs are maintained.  Record all refugees and visitors details in the visitors log book at the exterior reception area.  Comply with the refugees and visitors visits procedures.  Check and search refugees by metal detector before entering UNHCR Premises. For female visitors only female guards are allowed to do search.  Ensure proper handling of refugees waiting area.  Guide refugees and accompany them to the concern units or reception desk.  Patrols and maintains security of the office premises and grounds, including overnight guard duties, and reports any irregularities.  Check that all office machines, air conditioners, lights, etc are turned off after working hours.  Control admission of authorized personnel and movement of UNHCR property into and out of the premises.  Protects information related to agency offices and staff members. Report immediately any attempts to obtain such information to the supervisor.  Acts according to the instructions and rules in cases of fire or other common emergencies and is ready to provide first aid.  Acts to mitigate and defuse any emergencies that occur in the office, or its immediate vicinity. Reports all actions taken to the supervisor.  Record all security incidents and other significant events that take place during the shift.  Prevents, and if possible detains any suspicious person that attempts to gain unauthorized access to the office. Such persons should be turned over to the militia.  Patrols all office grounds. Periodically inspecting the external perimeter of the office. Monitor the immediate surrounding at all times.  Follows established procedures for removing valuable office items and equipment from the premises.  Reports all suspicious activities to the supervisor and request assistance as appropriate.  Uphold UNHCR code of conduct at all times and when performing her/his duties and when interacting with beneficiaries and visitors.  Perform other duties as required.

Qualification Required:

For Syrian or Syrian Palestinian only

Education and Skills: Minimum completed secondary education. Training/background in security work.

Experience:

At least one (1) years of relevant work experience

Languages: Written and spoken English is an asset.

. Excellent communication and team skills; . Computer skills are an asset.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES . Knowledge of UNHCR, previous work with refugees. . Display culture, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability . Ability to work in multi-national/ cultural environment . Strong organizing ability; Flexibility; . Reliable and able to work under pressure and within limited timeframes
