TCDSB Promoted Themes of the Month At the end of the last calendar year (2007), the Toronto Catholic District School Board approved a board-wide initiative under the banner of Faith and Character Development as prescribed by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Within that context, the TCDSB collaborated most especially with parent groups from every school community and established themes for each of the months. The theme for the month of January is courage, one of the four primary Catholic virtues. Watch for the introduction of the monthly themes in our parent newsletters. Parents are encouraged to discuss the monthly theme with your children. On a school level, the monthly theme will be incorporated into formal lessons during each month.

Kindergarten and New Student Registration The time of year has come to begin the registration process for Junior Kindergarten students for September of next year, as well as any Senior Kindergarten or other grade level students who may be planning to attend Our Lady of Sorrows in September, 2008. During the week of January 28 – February 1, parents are invited and encouraged to call the school (416 – 393 – 5246) to set an appointment to do registrations which will occur during the week of February 4 – 8, 2008. Current parents are asked to pass this registration information to any neighbours who may not have children currently in attendance at the school. OLS as an ECO School One of our school initiatives this year is the promotion of OLS as an ‘eco-school (environmentally aware and responsible). All students will be involved in various eco- activities throughout the year. On January 29, our Grade 1,2, and 3 students will be engaged for the morning in Environmental Activities. These events will be done in stations and all students in those grades will rotate through eleven stations to engage in activities which will heighten awareness about our environment.
