C. FLORA MEN’S TENNIS 12 TEAM ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE CLASS AAA STATE 13 CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THE PLAYERS AND 14 THEIR COACH, JOE BAILEY, ON AN EXCEPTIONAL 15-0 15 SEASON. 16 17 Whereas, excelling in tennis demands individual strength, agility, 18 and skill, as well as effective team strategy, strong play, and good 19 sportsmanship; and 20 21 Whereas, using those talents and attributes, Coach Joe Bailey and 22 the members of the A. C. Flora Men’s Tennis Team finished a 23 flawless 15-0 season by winning the Class AAA State 24 Championship; and 25 26 Whereas, defeating Myrtle Beach High School to take the state 27 title, players stayed calm and focused through several close 28 matches, including two singles matches that went to tiebreakers 29 and a third that went to twelve games in both sets; and 30 31 Whereas, the 2005 win marks the second consecutive year that A. 32 C. Flora has overcome Myrtle Beach in the finals, upsetting the 33 Myrtle Beach team that had won three straight titles from 2001 to 34 2003; and 35 36 Whereas, describing his team as “match tough”, “smart”, and 37 “strong”, Coach Bailey exudes confidence in his players and their 38 individual and collective abilities, while at the same time firmly 39 but effectively pushing them to perform at the highest level 40 possible; and 41
1 [4174] 1 1 Whereas, the members of the championship team are Kenny 2 Bovain, Richard Bunch, Hunter Davis, John Hobbs, Bryant 3 Lambert, Peter Mathias, Travis Muthig, Marshall Rowe, Nick 4 Rowe, John Thorne, Lisle Traywick, Yuri Veytskin, and Luke 5 Whiteside; and 6 7 Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take great 8 pride in recognizing such a talented group of young men for their 9 tireless efforts and great determination in an outstanding season 10 and acknowledge them as veritable model student athletes. Now, 11 therefore, 12 13 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 14 15 That the members of the House of Representatives congratulate the 16 A. C. Flora Men’s Tennis Team on their impressive Class AAA 17 State Championship and commend the players and their coach, Joe 18 Bailey, on an exceptional 15-0 season. 19 20 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 21 the players, coaches, and school officials of the A.
