NOTICE TO MORRISTOWN VOTERS

The following is some basic information about the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Elmore Morristown Unified Union School District for the Town of Morristown to be held on Monday, May 23, and Tuesday, May 24, 2016. If you have any questions, please call the Town Clerk’s Office at 888-6370 or the Secretary of State’s Office at 1-800-642-5155.

REGISTER TO VOTE: Come to the Town Clerk’s Office at 43 Portland Street. If you are homebound, call the office for assistance. If you want to vote in the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Elmore Morristown Unified Union School District Meeting, you must register by 5:00 PM on WEDNESDAY, May 18, 2016. You may also apply to the Department of Motor Vehicles, and the application will be valid if it contains a postmark prior to the deadline of 05/18/16. You may now register to vote online at: https://olvr.sec.state.vt.us/. If you believe that your name should be on the checklist, but it appears to have been removed in error, explain it to the Clerk and request that your name be reinstated.

ATTEND THE ANNUAL MEETING: On Monday, May 23, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the Elmore Town Hall. There will be articles from the warning to be voted at the Elmore Town Hall. An informational meeting will be presented at that time to discuss Article 8 which will be voted by Australian Ballot on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Approval of this article will authorize the School Directors to expend $15,966,750 for the ensuing fiscal year. This is your opportunity to vote and to participate in discussion of the budget article that will be voted at the Elmore Morristown Unified Union School District Meeting on Tuesday, May 24th. ABSENTEE BALLOTS ARE AVAILABLE: If you will be out of town on May 24th or will be unable to vote at the polling place, absentee ballots for the Elmore-Morristown Unified Union School District budget will be available by May 3, 2016. You may apply for an absentee ballot at the Town Clerk’s Office located at 43 Portland Street, before 4:30 PM on Monday, May 23, 2016. You or a family member may apply in person, by phone, e-mail or in writing. Other authorized people may apply for you in person or in writing. All ballots must be returned to the Town Clerk’s Office or polling place no later than 7:00 PM on the day of the election. You may also vote your ballot at the Town Clerk’s Office, during regular business hours, twenty (20) days prior to town meeting. If you are ill or disabled, you can request that a pair of Justices of the Peace deliver a ballot to you. All requests for this service must be placed with the Town Clerk before the deadline of 4:30 PM on MONDAY, May 23rd. You can request assistance in reading or marking your ballot from the Justices. They must return the ballot to the Town Clerk for you.

SAMPLE BALLOTS: Sample ballots will be posted for viewing at various places around town no later than Friday, April 29, 2016.

VOTE IN THE 2016 ELMORE MORRISTOWN UNIFIED UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT MEETING: MAY 24, 2016. Australian ballot voting for Morristown voters will be held in the Community Meeting Room of the Municipal Offices, located at 43 Portland Street. The polls for Australian ballot voting for approval of the Elmore-Morristown Unified Union School District budget will be open from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The facilities are handicapped accessible, and there is plenty of convenient parking in the municipal lots and along Portland Street.

HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE: All facilities at the Morristown Municipal Office Building are handicapped accessible.

TRANSPORTATION: Anyone needing transportation to or from the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Elmore Morristown Unified Union School District on Monday 5/23 or Tuesday 5/24 should contact the Town Clerk’s Office well in advance at 888-6370.

All of the MUNICIPAL OFFICES of Morristown will be open on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
