Opening Ms. Lloyd called the meeting to order. Ms. Buete seconded. The meeting was opened with introductions. Ms. Kolk welcomed every one and stated the purpose of SAC.

Treasurer’s Report

Principal’s Report Dr. Goricki There are 778 students in our school. We still have 5 positions to be filled. There are 44 classrooms between both buildings. There is also new flooring in the cafeteria. The stage will be the next project when funds are available. The learning pavilion outside of the library is a wonderful addition for teaching. In the new building, there is state-of-the art technology with new smart boards. STEM has also been an addition to our specials line up. We are welcoming to our school the Varying Exceptionality classes from Webster. They are mostly self-contained. They are multi-leveled. The AVID program was discussed by Ms. Rodgers. Crookshank has been an AVID school for 4 years. It involves planning and organization that is learned in the classroom. She presented the 4 goals that the team identified. 2 instructional goals are organization and note taking. The 2 cultural goals are parent involvement and common language. PBIS was also presented by Ms. Rodgers. Our desire is to increase the desire of students and teachers to decrease behavior issues. Expectations are intricately involved, as well as, positive intrinsic rewards. Character Counts is a program that is nationwide. There are 6 pillars of character. Fairness is recognized during the month of September. Students from each class are recognized, monthly, at a school-wide ceremony. Ms. Kolk presented information on Being a Reader and Making Meaning. These are our new reading programs. Being a Reader focuses on phonemic awareness and phonics. It has a small group part. As it moves into Making Meaning it emphasizes vocabulary and comprehension. Ms. Kolk also spoke about professional learning communities and team unity. Our goal, as a school, is to work together to move all the students. Dr. Goricki mentioned that the middle school principals from Sebastian and Murray would like to attend SAC meetings to discuss how our students do when they articulate to middle school and how we can support the middle school program.

Each person present was given a copy of the bylaws. Dr. Goricki and the Committee discussed the School Improvement Plan which I being presented to the School Board in early October.

Title 1 Joanne Marziani There was a very successful Reading Olympics this summer. There are 90 gold, 27 silver, 19 bronze and 6 who participated. There was 142 in total. In addition to their medals, they will get ice cream sundaes. The Olympics is jump started at the end of the year with a new book that is supported by Title 1 funds. Open houses will be as follows: PreK-1 on 9/7, Grades 2-3 and VE on 9/14, and Gr. 4-5 on 9/21. New Business Election of SAC officers The SAC committee needs a treasurer. Ms. Lloyd made a motion that Liz Buete be nominated for treasure. Dr. Goodwin seconded. Liz Buete was nominated. There was also a nomination for co-chair of Liz Hoessler. Dr. Goodwin made a motion that she be nominated. Ms. Kolk seconded. Ms. Hoessler was nominated. The dates for the SAC meetings were voted on. Ms. Rodgers made a motion that the dates be accepted. Ms. Marziani seconded. They were approved. The notes from SAC will be posted on the school website. Ms. Kolk also presented the county expectations for the year. She also asked that we look through the by-laws and note any issues.

Celebrations, questions, concerns, closing Dr. Goricki made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Ms. Kolk seconded. The meeting was ended.
