There’s something for everyone on stage at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park. From daytime programs especially for young children to family friendly evening performances of music, dance, theatre and more, this is Houston’s best entertainment value. Admission is FREE! For a complete schedule, visit www.milleroutdoortheatre.com. Free tickets are available on a first-come first-serve basis (four per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30 a.m.―1 p.m. for assigned seating under the canopy. If tickets remain at 1 p.m., the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets. As always, open seating on the hill. Under normal circumstances, all unoccupied/unclaimed seats are released five minutes before the show is scheduled to begin. We encourage all patrons to be in their assigned seats at least 10 minutes before showtime to insure that their seat is not released. Again, there is NO charge for tickets. Tickets may not be reserved by phone. Only four (4) tickets per person. At managements’ discretion, all unoccupied seats may be released at any time for any reason.

Ragtime: The Musical April 5-7 & 12-14, 8 p.m.

April 6 April 13 Ragtime tells the compelling story of three families - one upper-class white, one Jewish immigrant, and one poor African-American - and how their lives intertwine as they face the timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, and hope and despair. Featuring musical styles ranging from ragtime rhythms to brass marching bands, Ragtime is just as diverse as the melting pot that is America. Produced by HITS Theatre

Miller Theatre April 2012 Calendar/2 Swing, Jive & Pop Into Dance April 17, 11 a.m. Houston Metropolitan Dance Company's “Swing, Jive and Pop into Dance” incorporates history, fashion, music and the arts into an interactive blast of excitement. The company dances through the eras of the 1930’s Lindy Hop, bops into the 1950’s, grooves into the 1970’s and ends with the hip-hop music of today. Students, teachers and audience members have the opportunity to converse with the dancers and participate in an energetic hour of dance while learning fun history. In The Mood 2… Dance! April 20, 8 p.m. CORE Performance Company returns in an electrifying and entertaining dance sampler, In the Mood2... Dance!, celebrating the music of the Big Band era, America's romantic era of popular music from 1935-1945. Featuring live music from Houston's own Billie Ledbetter Orchestra, In the Mood2... Dance! is certain to captivate audiences with new works by three exciting and recognized choreographers - Sue Schroeder and guest artists Leslie Scates and Teresa Chapman. Bella Gaia: A Poetic Vision of Earth from Space April 21, 8 p.m. This Earth Day, take a journey that evokes the wonder of the world and the Universe. Bella Gaia (Beautiful Earth) is a "Living Atlas" multimedia journey of our world, expressing the deeply moving beauty of planet Earth as seen through the eyes of astronauts. A Collaboration with NASA and award-winning director and classically-trained violinist Kenji Williams, Bella Gaia features a live performance by Williams, world music performers and dancers, with orbiting visualizations of Earth from space. The United States Coast Guard Band April 22, 7:30 p.m. The United States Coast Guard Band makes its debut at Miller! To honor the Coast Guard’s centuries of service to our nation, the band performs an evening of patriotic selections, classical works, and jazz standards. The United States Coast Guard Band is the premier band representing the United States Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security. Presented by Miller Outdoor Theatre

Miller Theatre April 2012 Calendar/3 Goldilocks April 24-25, 11 a.m. The Bear family returns home from a walk to find the next door neighbor, Goldilocks, has broken into their home. Was she hungry or sleepy? No, she wanted to use their computer to contact her new online friend. She wasn't allowed to use the computer at home and she doesn't have any friends at school. “Goldilocks” is a bilingual (English/Spanish) tale that teaches us about the dangers of the internet, bullies and respect for people and their property. Produced by Express Children's Theatre

Bayou City in Concert April 27, 8 p.m. Bayou City Performing Arts makes its debut at Miller Outdoor Theatre in a show filled with song, dance, theater and more. Featuring many of Houston's diverse and talented performing arts groups - Bayou City Chorale, Gay Men’s Chorus of Houston, Bayou City Women’s Chorus, Houston Pride Band and Unhinged Productions - "Bayou City in Concert" is definitely a show that you do not want to miss. East Meets West X April 28, 8:15 p.m. “East Meets West X” will feature Houston's most prominent companies in contemporary, modern, hip-hop, ballroom dance, and Chinese dance, uniting some of the best from the East and the West. Produced by Dance of Asian America

The Clever Wife – A Chinese Folktale April 30 – May 4, 11 a.m. Can a woman be a hero? Based on a popular Chinese folktale, this world premiere opera explores the difference between wisdom and knowledge when a young wife must rescue her foolish husband from a magistrate's impossible tasks. Music by Mary Carol Warwick, Libretto by Hugh Behm-Steinberg, and commissioned by Donna and Robert Bruni for elementary and middle schools. Produced by Houston Grand Opera
