Being a successful startup, it is very likely that FoxPharma will be acquired by a larger company in the coming year. Information about an acquisition is very sensitive and is regulated by the Securities Exchange Commission. FoxPharma has created a new “Acquisitions” department and, due to the sensitive nature of their data, you must create a new file server for this team.

MIS2501 Exam #1 Part 1 Create a Virtual Machine, Join the Domain & Create an Alias (20 points)

1. Create a virtual machine that will: a. Run Windows Server 2016 Datacenter. b. Name your VM the same as your TU AccessNet account with “-FSA1” appended to it. For example, if your Temple University AccessNet account was “TUA12345” then the machine name would be “TUA12345-FSA1”.

c. Choose machine size “A1 Standard”. d. Assign a static IP address with a host address of .50 e. Note, you may be able to complete some of the following steps while your VM is being created. 2. After the VM has been created: a. Add the VM to your domain. b. Create an alias of “AcqFileServer” in DNS for this machine. c. Login to your domain controller/DNS server and show the DNS entries for this new VM and the alias you just created. Create a legible screen shot of these entries in DNS that clearly shows the name, the type and the data associated with this DNS entry and alias. Paste the screen shot here (10 points): d. Launch “Active Directory Users and Computers” and create a legible screen shot that clearly shows all of the computers that are part of your network including this new file server. MIS2501 Exam #1 Part 2 Creating Groups, Accounts and Shares (20 points)

1. Create a new group called “Acquisitions”. 2. Create the following new accounts for people in the Acquisitions organization and make them members of the Acquisitions group you just created. a. Sam – Member of Acquisitions b. Sara – Member of Acquisitions 3. On the C-drive of the file server you created in part 1, create a folder called “Acquisitions”. Share this folder and grant the Acquisitions group full access to this folder. 4. Launch “Active Directory Users and Computers” and create a legible screen shot that clearly shows all of the users that are members of the Acquisitions group. Paste the screen shot here (10 points):
