1 Qualifications & Experience:

The post holder will be expected to have qualifications and recent and relevant experience in the following areas:

Essential Desirable 1. General level of education to at least A level standard  2. Experience of carrying out systematic surveys  3. Experience of working/volunteering in the conservation  sector 4. Degree in a biological science or countryside management  5. Experience of working/volunteering in coastal habitats.  6. Previous warden experience 

2 Knowledge & Skills:

The post holder will have the following knowledge and skills:

Essential Desirable 1. Identification - able to accurately identify coastal bird  species, common plant species. 2. Computer literate - use of word processor, spread  sheets, and email. 3. Competent at writing reports.  4. Communication - good face to face and written  communication. 5. Full driving licence and use of own vehicle  6. Good knowledge of British birds particularly coastal  birds. 7. Knowledge of salt marsh vegetation types.  8. Excellent field identification skills for British birds and  plants. 9. Competent in the use of Geographical Information  Systems and using hand held GPS units. 10. Competent in giving presentations and writing articles.  11. Knowledge of other areas of British natural history. 

3 Personal Qualities

The post holder should possess the following:

Essential Desirable 1. Self-motivated with a positive attitude to lone working.  2. Well organised and able to prioritise and meet  deadlines. 3. Flexible, enthusiastic and tactful, with a professional  approach to all aspects of work. 4. Able to present a positive image of Cumbria Wildlife  Trust. Terms and Conditions

1. Salary: £1,183 (gross per calendar month) plus pension contribution of 9% based on a 42 hour week. Accommodation is provided.

2. Duration of post: The contract will start on the 13th April 2015 and run for approximately 15 weeks (until around the 24th July 2015) depending on the breeding season. All employees new to Cumbria Wildlife Trust undertake a probationary period of 3 months, in which time they are expected to establish their suitability for the post.

3. Hours per week: 42 hours. The post holder is expected to be on call 24 hours a day, and is entitled to one day off per week, which should be agreed in advance with the line manager.

4. Holidays: 28 days per annum, including public holidays.

5. Place of work: Rockcliffe Marsh Nature Reserve on the Solway Firth, North Cumbria.
