ACCT 554 TAKE HOME EXAM FALL 2017

1. The take-home part will be due right before class on Monday, December 4, 2017. Before working on the take-home part, please read the following instructions carefully: a. You may not consult with or discuss the exam in any way (i.e., in person, electronically, over the phone, telepathically, or in any other way!) with anyone; this includes fellow students, relatives, friends, enemies, or strangers. Not even a little bit, or in casual conversation. b. You may freely consult the textbook, course notes and internet. c. The work you turn in must be entirely your own. d. You may spend a maximum of ten hours preparing your answer for this part of the exam.

2. WHAT TO TURN IN: Turn in (hard copy only, no email submissions) the following items, at the beginning of class on Monday, December 4, 2017. I do not accept late Exam! A zero score is going to be assigned to the late take home exam. If you do have emergencies, please contact me in advance. With my agreement, you can turn in the exam early.

Total points (80 points): Your completed business report to the question on the other side of the paper (Note this instruction is printed double-sided). Your report will be no more than four computer printed pages (no need to create an additional cover page, table of content. just sign on this page and use this as your cover page.), single spaced and stapled. In total, I expect to have 5 pages: this cover page and your 4 page answers.

3. Good luck.

I understand and agree to comply with the above rules:

______Signature

Print your name Prepare a brief investment report on Tesla, Inc. (ticker: TSLA). The report should be no more than four pages long, and should provide advice to a potential investor about whether an investment in TSLA is recommended, or not now. In preparing the report, try to be as objective as possible; that is, discuss factors that might support a favorable recommendation as well as factors that might not, before reaching a conclusion. You do need to weigh these factors and draw your final conclusion. The format of the report is up to you. You may use narrative, bullet points, or whatever. Any supporting computations should be included in the four-page limit. You may single space, but use type no smaller than 11 point and keep one-inch margins on top, bottom and sides. Obviously, with a four-page/ten-hour limit, you will not be able to do all the analyses we’ve learned. However, a good business report will draw on the key concepts and methods from our FSA class throughout this semester. You should be able to obtain all the information you need from the annual reports at the company’s web site or EDGAR (search for it on Google) or from the MSN Money or Yahoo Finance research resources about the company (moneycentral.msn.com or http://finance.yahoo.com/), etc.
