To C.H.A.C. and to Gladys Romaro in Particular for All The

IN THE HOUSE VOL. LXI/JUNE, 2015 "Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.” Golda Meir JULY FOURTH BARBECUE The “sold out” July fourth barbecue was a huge success, a good time enjoyed by all in attendance. Thanks to C.H.A.C. and to Gladys Romaro in particular for all the hard work putting this event together. WE CAN’T AFFORD TO DO IT ANY MORE Many shareholders have, over time, come to expect the staff to perform services gratis that surely would otherwise be rather costly. And while such services such as replace- ment of ballcock mechanisms in toilet tanks are not terribly time consuming, the cost of materials has in- creased manyfold over time. Therefore, while we would like to have the staff continue to provide such services, it would be unreasonable to ex- pect the the co-op to foot the bill for materials. Accordingly, and going forward, the staff will continue to replace only “standard” toilet tank “innards” (not flap- pers) as in the past, and shareholders will be billed a $25.00 fee to cover the cost of materials. Should a “flap- per ball,” be required in addition to a standard ballcock mechanism, shareholders will be advised as to what vari- ety to purchase BAGELS ANYONE? The two bagel brunches sponsored by Trident, our pool service contractor will be held as follows:

1. Saturday, July 18th — 11:00 A.M. /Clubroom

2. Sunday, August 16th - 11:00 A.M./Clubroom “TRIP” THE LIFE FANTASTIC The last thing anyone of us wants to do is to make an unexpected trip to the emergency room because we tripped on an item that was inadvertently left in the hallway by a neighbor. PLEASE - PLEASE- DO NOT LEAVE ITEMS SUCH AS SHOES, BOOTS AND UMBRELLAS IN THE HALLWAY THEY PRESENT A SERIOUS HAZARD

PLEASE TAKE NOTE

AS PER HEALTH DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS

1. All persons entering into the swimming pool MUST be dressed in bathing attire

2. All persons with shoulder length hair (or longer) must either wear a bathing cap or tie up hair while in pool.

PERSONS NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH ABOVE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED INTO THE POOL

WE’RE LOVIN’ IT BUT Shareholders are volunteering for committees that do not yet ex- ist. We welcome shareholder participation, but when we are ready to form “special” committees, we will put out a notice to all shareholders. Although we addressed these issues at the June Open Meeting and in prior editions of IN THE HOUSE, there may have been a misunderstanding or miscommunication. Allow us to clarify:

1) GYM ENHANCEMENT

The Gym Project will be completed in two phases. The first phase will enlarge the gym part way into the Club Room. If needed, the second phase will break into the bike room. That will make the gym very large and we will need new equip- ment. At that stage, we will ask for shareholders to offer their ex- pertise in purchasing new equipment.

2) HALLWAY ENHANCEMENT We are in process of getting estimates for the cost of replac- ing the carpets and wallpaper in our hallways. While the carpeting must be replaced at the present time in that we do not have. and are unable to secure additional stock, its replacement has been budgeted for as a maintenance item.

The wallpaper is another story altogether. We have put the wallpaper job out to bid (removal of present wallpaper, repair and preparation of walls, approximate purchase price of new paper and installation),repainting of all hallway doors. Just as soon as we have have these estimates, shareholders will be given infor- mation regarding the necessary assessment, and will vote as to whether or not to proceed. Please be assured that when it is time to form committees for each of these projects, all shareholders will be notified and encouraged to apply. JOIN THESE STANDING COMMITTEES NOW

Below you will find a listing of the standing committees here at Cryder House. Each is chaired by one, or some- times two board members. Additional committees, specific to particular projects and seeking shareholder input are announced as the occasion arises. Shareholders interested in participating in one or more of these committees are encouraged to drop a note of interest to the board via the doorman: Infrastructure Committee - structural and mechanical aspects relating to building, and physical building facilities. Garden/Landscape Committee - meets with land- scaper regularly to plan seasonal plantings. House Committee - monitors all public areas the building with regard to cleanliness and good repair.

Pool Committee - meets before and after pool season to make recommendations to board with regard to policy as well as to evaluate program and staff.

Security Committee - meets with building manager and members of the security team two times per year for purposes of evaluation and policy.
