Skunk River Navy Paper Commanded by Admiral Colbert Aboard the USS BEST

Admiral Colbert as a young sailor (age 15) aboard the Civil War ship USS I’m Sunk

Your first assignment is a simple observation paper about what you experienced after your were shanghaied… uh …I mean, before you went on your SRN trip. I will share these observations with Admiral Colbert.

This assignment asks you to be an observer and participant all in one and is a simple reflection about your experience.

While you are on your little adventure, mentally take notes during your SRN experience. Remember those moments of joy as you splash around the water, of terror as giant student-eating fresh water mussels devour your friends, and … And, upon your return from this delightful experience, record, in narrative form, what actually took place. You may do a compare/contrast where you include what you thought you’d see, smell, hear, feel, and what actually took place, or you can do a straight, this is what I experienced paper. Length is 2-3 pages.

Due no later than the Wednesday following the last SRN trip (dates will vary). You may turn yours in earlier depending on when you make the trip.

Loose lips sink ships! Don’t tell others about your experience; let them find out on their own. In the past each trip has been just a little different.
