1. All formulas begin with the = sign 2. Syntax -

o Add "+"

o Subtract "-"

o Multiply "*" (asterisk)

o Divide "/" (slash) 3. Auto Sum - find the sum of a column, looks for values above or to the left

o Home tab/ Editing Group/ ∑

o ALT /=/ENTER

o Formula Tab/ ∑ 4. Common Functions - most used functions, click on drop down box beside ∑

o Sum

o Average

o Count Numbers

o Max

o Min 5. Copying Formulas

o Formula is copied relatively

o Cells change in relation to formula location 6. Absolute Cell Reference

o Make absolute or fixed reference

o Type dollar sign before column letter and row number  Ex: $C$3

o Click on cell and press F4 for shortcut 7. Date Field that will update each time the file is opened Formulas ribbon →Function Library Group →Date & Time → NOW function
