Have your class been involved with any other programme like this in 2016, or are any projects planned for 2015 (eg NT Connectioms, working with another Theatre company or venue):

As a drama teacher, what areas of your practice would you most like to develop and refine through doing this project? If you have participated in the project previously, please explain what new practices you hope to develop?

What do you hope your class will get out of this process?

What are their current weaknesses and strengths? Please answer honestly – this won’t affect their participation – it’s a chance to prepare artist mentors in advance of them visiting your school. As the teacher leading this project, you are a key to ensuring the Barbican Box programme is a success. We value your hard work and contributions at all times. As you register to take part in this project, please read the following aspects of your role and mark that you are prepared to agree to the following.

As the Barbican Box lead Teacher, I commit to:

Providing an appropriate working space (drama studio, gym, hall) for the project

Ensuring that 3 hours are timetabled for each of the 3 artist mentor visits to your school

Furnish the Barbican with all necessary details within given deadlines & time frames throughout the course of the project

Let the Barbican know 2 weeks in advance of any changes to session times or dates

Have a member of staff in the room during mentor sessions, including after school

Try and ensure the wider school is aware of the programme, and aware of when showcase weeks and artist mentor sessions are taking place (and students may miss or be late for other classes)

The Barbican is contracted to pay mentors for their booked sessions, even if they do not go ahead. We will always try to find an alternative time slot or mentor if a session becomes unworkable, so please do get in touch if you feel a session cannot go ahead. Please be aware, however, that if we are not given two weeks notice, or an alternative time slot / mentor is not available, we may have to discuss sharing this cost with the school.
