Thurs., Sept. 30th 5:00p.m. - 7:00p.m. STOP ABUSE START RESPECT Join us in opening October 1999 National Domestic Violence Awareness Month at Woodlawn Lake. The event will consist of, musical performances, and an interpretive dance by students from Incarnate Word University, a choir performance, and information booths on community services. The evening will close with a memorial service, calling to mind the women who have died at the hands of a partner and our need to continue working to end family violence. Each woman’s name and story of her death are permanently affixed to the chest of the Silent Witness in memory of her life and as a reminder of the deadly effects of domestic violence. A collaboration between Community First Health Plans, Clockwork Design, the San Antonio Express News and the P.E.A.C.E. Initiative will be producing a full-page ad in the Express News to draw attention to domestic violence in San Antonio. Community First Health Plans will then turn the ad into a poster and have it distributed all over San Antonio and south Texas. A Women’s support group for Victims of Domestic Violence 7:00p.m. – 8:30p.m. Every Tuesday held at the First Presbyterian Church New Convent Building, 404 N. Alamo.
